In this game of Ping-Pong between GOK and Railway Ministry, impelmentation of Suburban Rail Project in Bengaluru is almost like winning thousand mutinies. Every inch of progress made so far right from 2010 Round Table Event at CiSTUP is almost like a winning a mutiny and it is almost like a waging war at all times. Thanks to dedicated comardes from Namma Rail Team @ Praja, CFB, WFR, Tumukuru/Bangarpet Rail user groups, individual citizen activists, the Suburban Rail Project for Bengaluru is still in news though making progress at snail speed.  Though these could have been sorted long back but this project by its very nature has remained as an orphan whom nobody wants to show any empathy. It is the citizen activists who have kept this project alive and kicking.

The last we have heard is GOK and Railways have agreed on stakeholding percentages. One thing is sure, now the project is on track for implementation, though at snail speed that none of us like. Though the CM@GOK had promised that the SPV will be formed within 30 days. Unfortunately 30 days have passed, haven't heard any progress on this front. Formation of SPV and its functioning is very critical. Sooner its starts working, it is better for the project to be realized. Working of SPV is crucial to make the Project independent of GOK/Railways indifference.

One thing is very certain. Unless we the citizens keep pressurising the governments both at the state and center, progress on this project can not be taken granted. What can be better idea than a train trip to highlight the issue and pressurise the GOK/Raiwlays to move fast on operationlaizing the SPV ASAP.

Rail Day earlier planned

Sanjeev - 26 August, 2018 - 14:39

Praja had planned for Rail Day with MP Rajeev Gowda but Railway officials did't support the same during 2015.

Now with Railway Minister  &  support from Ananthkumar, PC Mohan,  Finally GOK giving all support,  this event should be successful.
