State Forest Department on Saturday launched the awaited 24/7 ‘Sandalwood Helpline Service’. Launching the service, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Forest Resource Management) M Muni Reddy said, "This helpline service has been launched as a pilot project in Bangalore and will be extended soon to other vulnerable areas in a phased manner".
Coincidentally, sandalwood came up for discussions on PRAJA just last week at

The helpline service and Chain Link Facility will be executed with the allocated Rs two crore budget sanctioned by the state government in the budget for sandalwood protection.
People can call 080-23346846 for information regarding plantation, felling, disposition and sale through Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited Company and Karnataka Handicrafts Development Corporation based on revised market rates.
The helpline also guides people in plantation, maintenance and availability of 16 sandalwood species. For more, read:

But, wonder why they can't place all the info on a web-site.
