Praising Aamir Khan for his maiden television show Satyameva Jayate, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray lambasted Karnataka for banning the dubbed telecast of the show in the state. Satyameva Jayate is banned from telecast in Karnataka government’s policy to disallow dubbed serials or movies in the state to protect the regional cinema and television industry.

I am certain no human being would have remained unmoved by the viewing of the first episode of Aamir Khan's "Satyameva Jayate", on the subject of "female infanticide" telecast this past Sunday at 11AM. While dubbed versions of the show were telecast simultaneously by all regional Doordarshan channels, apparently Karnataka alone didn't do so sticking strictly to the ban ruling in the state on dubbed telecasts.
The rule, I am sure, was intended only for commercial cinema, and applying the same to such a show, depriving Kannadigas the benefit of its viewing, was most unfortunate. Even more unfortunate is Bal Thackeray, of all the people, having to point it out.
One hopes proper sense will dawn on the powers that be, even if delayed, so that Kannadiga's will not miss out on the future episodes, which, going by the passion Mr Khan brings to his work, should be equally good.
