psaram42 - 16 June, 2013 | Bangalore | governance | Decentralisation | Citizen Reports | Ward Committee | ward sabha

The hall was full with a mix of young and not so young senior citizens. We could see many members of "AAm Admi". Initially there were three occupants on the dais. Ramesh the former Mayer. The current mayor joined later.

P1

1.     PS Thomas, BBMP secretary

2.     Venkatesh Murthy the Mayor

3.     Timmegowda and

4.     Ramesh the former mayor

5.     Katyaini Chamraj at the mike

Smt Katyayini Chamraj started the ball rolling with detailed explanation of the suggestions made by CIVIC regarding the Rules on section 13A of KMC act related to formation of ward committees and area Sabah.

BBMP has framed the rules as per High court directive on the functioning of ward committees and area sabhas. It is imperative to have the members of these committees without criminal record and affiliation to any political party. The councilor should not take any decision without consultation

A detailed letter has been sent to the Principle secretary, urban development, Sri. Laxminarayana IAS  by CIVIC.

On the whole the current roads of the city are not good enough. The house hold waste management is far from optimum. Mr. Thomas gave enough opportunity to the audience to air their views.

P2 - A section of the audiance

P3- Other Section of the Audiance, a few with Aam Admi caps can be seen here.

On the whole the meeting was a good opportunity for us the citizens to get first hand information on what way the city corporation is headed. We need to wait and see how the elected representatives outsmart the move by CIVIC
