Vittal Mallya Road to get a facelift - from TOI

Read this in the TOI
Apparently permission was granted by the BBMP late July and work has progressed. Supposedly to be made a model road.
My apologies to Mr. Mallya - I think I have ranted at least a couple of times that a man who owns airlines and F1 teams ought to keep the road in a better shape - and one that is named after his father. BBMP was in the way!!!
"For starters, the road will be a concrete one with dedicated drainage along the entire length on both sides. A duct will also be laid on both sides to carry power and telecom cables, which means there won't be any need to dig the road every time new electricity or phone connection have to be given.
The road will also have horizontal hume pipes beneath for cross-drainage. The cost of redoing the road is expected to run into a few crores. The road will boast of street furniture (benches) and bollard lighting (lamps on short posts). Pavements on both sides will have granite paving. "
"The road was in limbo for the past couple of years with UB's proposals to redo the road not getting the required approvals, and with BBMP not doing anything. "
Let's see.

Hi Svastha,
Kindly read my comments on Lakes & SWDs where I have covered the Vittal Mallya Road issue.
As you say, let us hope the private parties involved do get down to giving the citizens of Bangalore at least a New Year gift if not a Diwali gift of an excellent road in the heart of the city.
