CRS / Local train for Bangalore Vs State Govt & SWR attitude
Sanjeev - 2 January, 2010 | Bangalore | CRS | SWR | GOK | Complaint | Transportation | public transport | Commuter rail
This with reference to our Shri K.H. Muniyappa ( Minister of State for Railways ) blaming State Govt for not starting Local Trains within Bangalore city. How is it that he can not speak to CM of Karnataka when CM himself is pursuing so many projects for Rail on cost sharing basis. Our Shri K.H. Muniyappa ( Minister of State for Railways ) does own the responsibilty of allocating Rs 1 Crore for track doubling from Yesvanthpur to Yelahanaka & no mention of electrification. How about double trck from Yelahanka to Dodaballapur & Chikaballapur with electrification ???? So many stations need to be upgraded for even passenger trains services & Foot over Bridges need to provided.
Already many peoples are using passanger train facilty in Bangalore to travell within city limiits for travelling to office. WIth CRS ( locla Train ) transport system l drastically will improve. Initially their will be some resistance to use CRS, but its need of the day as this will add capacity to existing transport system & brings down pressure on road.
Now lets look at the Rail facilty at Bangalore. As MTERO work is in progress in Bangalore & many under pass & Fly-over work have been taken by BBMP & NHAI. With greater Bangalore and satelite ownships coming up, we need multi modal transport system for Bangalore city with METRO, BMTC & CRS ( Local Train. ) Also Mejestic Bus Stand ( out station ) is getting shifted for METRO construction, its very urgent to get CRS getting started.
We should compare local Trains in other cities with respect to Bangaluru and existing train lines. Mumbai Local Trains and MMTS service in Hyderabad & Secenderbad , Chennai & Delhi . They are on ground only and with fewer disturbances to overall surroundings. They have utilized the existing railway lines and local stations for running Local Trains. Its great success one looks at them now apart from the Financial aspect ( we need to keep aside the loss as this is for Public transport system and not for profit making : social cause.)
Once we go thru the existing Train Tracks & Local Stations of Bangalore, we can start the local train services immediately without much delay. The existing local stations are around 27 numbers within local reach of Bangalore city. And most of these stations are having double track. We need ot have another 13 more new stations.. Here i my proposed CRS system with phase wise. In Phase-1 CRS can be started with l existing 27 stations & in phase -2 we need to add 13 more new station with further facilty and increase in frequency.
New Stations to be added :
REACH-5
With so many option available, Stae Govt & Center ( Railways ) should start the Local Trains ( CRS ) with Fast Train and slow train option having AC chair car facilty ( this is being now introduced at Mumbai ).
Other facilty required are
1. BMTC buses need to be integarted with CRS and METRO 2. Foot over Bridges need to be put in place to cross station and road outside station. 3. Approach roads need to be improved. 4. Single Ticket system for METRO, CRS & BMTC so that citizens can switch over from one transport system to other system.
I am sure we need funds and authority to run the system and to co-ordinate between METRO, CRS & BMTC. Govt of Karnatak with Center ( under JNRUM funding ) can kick start SPV under BMRC. Once CRS starts, then it can be further expanded. Also Corporate Bodies with Individual donation can be done to get the Funding one time. Their is money spent on underpasses & Fly-over with road widening, some amount ( may be 25 to 30 Crore ) can be diverted for this for time.
Shri K.H. Muniyappa ( Minister of State for Railways ) and CM of Karanatak should come together and make this reality for Bangalore city. This will reduce pollution also.
