Sanjeev - 18 November, 2010 | Bangalore | Analysis | Transportation | public transport | Commuter rail | Commuter rail
MMTS services of Hyderabad has doing great improvements, you can see here how the services have been improved over the last few months. For Bangalore & its suburbs Commuter Rail is still distant dream unless we push our Politicians hard either BJP / Congress
A. Ladies Special MMTS Service & Six Additional Services of regular MMTS even the schedules are in the noon :
1. MMTS / SCR has started : Train No. MB 1/MB 2 Falaknuma-Lingampalli-Falaknuma Mathribhoomi MMTS Ladies Special Service 7:10 in the morning & 19 hrs in the evening in return direction. This is done on 27th Sept'2010
2. Six Additional MMTS Services to be introduced from 28th September, 2010 2 services each for Secunderabad-Lingampalli, Falaknuma-Lingampalli, Falaknuma-Secunderabad

B. Special MMTS Trains for Festival :
15 MMTS Trains for Vinayaka Nimarjanam
In order to clear extra rush of passengers during Ganesh Nimarjanam South Central Railway will run MMTS Special trains as per the following schedule

C. Extending the MMTS services on Sundays :
Seven More MMTS Train Services on Sundays
Due to public demand and good patronization, South Central Railway will run seven more MMTS train services on Sundays with effect from 3rd October, 2010

D. Two New DEMU services from Kacheguda Station :
3. Train No. D 174 Kacheguda-Miryalaguda DEMU Passenger
This shows how MMTS & DEMU are performing as citizens are willing to travell by Public Transport and particulalry on Local Trains inspite of all -ve image of Indian Railways.
How did they augment their services as we have not heard of any additional tracks or additional terminal. How did they run special MMTs services for Ganesha Festival.
Will our SWR can run any special DEMU Trains from Bidadi to Chikballpur when the AERO India which will happen during Feb'2011. Even the Bangalore to Nelamangala Train which was announced during budget is yet to be started.
Its we need to push our SWR , State Govt officials & so called self interested politicians.

Bangalore to Whitefield on Pushpulls
shyamm - 28 November, 2010 - 15:50
Though my office is in Electronic City, for a new project I had to visit our company's branch office in GRTechPark, Whitefield for 3 days. This building is next to ITPL. I had to take public transport on all 3 days to reach the office in the afternoons while the drop back home would be provided on the company cab as it would be late in the night.
The first day I took the Volvo bus 335E from Majestic. The ticket fare is Rs.55. The bus was half full , mostly fellow techies like me. The time it took to reach GRTP was about 1hr 15min in the afternoon traffic.
The 2nd day I took the 12:20 pm Pushpull from SBC to Marikuppam (train number 115SW). It departs from platform 5. The ticket to Whitefield is just Rs.4 . I could easily get a seat on the half full train. There were stops at Bangalore cantonment, Bangalore east, Byappanhalli, Krishnarajapuram and Whitefield. After Byappanhalli and Krishnarjapuram, the train was crowded with many commuters standing and resembled a Mumbai local train. Reached Whitefield at about 1:10 pm. From here i had to cross the railway tracks and reach Kadugodi bus station. Got a Volvo to GRTP, about 2 stops away, the fare being Rs.10
The 3rd day, since I had to reach GRTP only by 4pm, took the 14:55 Bangalore-Bangarpet Pushpull (train 532SW), which also departs from platform5. With the ticket at Rs4, I reached Whitefield at about 15:30 and again took the bus at kadugodu bus station to reach GRTP.
Each train having just 6-7 coaches , they become very crowded after Byappanhalli and KRpuram. If the railways could augment with another 2-3 coaches , it would be more commuter friendly. By the way I did notice the trains make unscheduled halts at Sadarmangala and the Railway goodshed ( near whitefield) which have very short platforms. The railways should introduce more DEMU/pushpull shuttles and publicise it just like those made for BusDays.
The problem you see is a symptom of the lack of a commuter rail system. It will not be solved by 3 coaches, 2 trains etc etc.
Kiran Kumar held a high-level
Sanjeev - 23 January, 2011 - 18:50
Kiran Kumar held a high-level meeting with stateTransport Minister Botsa Satyanarayana, South Central RailwayGeneral Manager M S Jayanth and other top officials here todayand discussed the pending railway projects related to AndhraPradesh
Though the Planning Commission cleared the second phaseexpansion of MMTS in Hyderabad-Secunderabad twin cities, theRailway Board has not yet given its nod to the project thathas become highly popular and essential, the sources said.
"MMTS is a popular capacity-building project with a highrate of return (12 per cent). The state government has agreed to bear two-third of the project cost," they said.
There was also demand for increasing the number of dieseland electrical multiple unit (DEMU \ MEMU) trains in suburbanand inter-city areas particularly in Rayalaseema and Telanganaregions. "The SCR is not getting adequate rakes (trains)because of which increasing the number of DEMU\MEMU serviceshas not become possible. We need at least five DEMU \ MEMUs in Rayalaseema and Telangana,"
http://news.oneindia.in/2011/01/20/railbudget-ap-to-demand-introduction-of-35-newtrains-aid0126.html
You can see MMTS has gained crtical mass due to connectvity to Hi-Tech city.
Karnataka CM is doing only saving his skin and visiting every weekDelhi to cover up his dirty acts. Their is not time for him to look into the project requirements. Look at how new AP CM is going importance to development works even though AP congress has problem with Jagan.
