Bangalore IT companies which are having Units in Pune should support  this one.  Now it looks like Bangalore BUS Day has lost its relevant after the initial hype.

Puneites embrace Pune Bus Day

Across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, people were seen standing in queues at bus stops as buses arrived with a higher frequency. The number of private vehicles on the road was very low and hence the buses could follow the time table more accurately. Many organisations and individuals welcomed the buses at various bus stops with flags of Pune Bus Day and thanking the commuters. Most of the buses were decorated with balloons and ribbons.

According to PMPML traffic manager, Sunil Gawali with the 1,317 additional buses on the roads, the number of passengers traveling by PMPML went up by close to 5 lakh commuters on November 1, increasing revenue by over Rs 50 lakhs.

The positive impact of the Pune Bus day could be gauged at the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjewadi. The IT park which is plagued by traffic congestion wore a different look on Thursday.Starting from Mundhwa right up to Hinjewadi Phase-III, the road traffic was very thin. The presence of large number of buses on the roads ensured that commuters remained away from their personal vehicles.

President, Hinjewadi Industries Association (HIA) Mrityunjay Singh told Sakal Times, “The Pune Bus Day has evoked a great response. This shows that if given the facility, the people are ready to avail them. This means that there is a definite solution to tackle the growing traffic menace in Pune. The government must pave way for buying more buses and strengthen the PMPML fleet. This is the only solution for solving this traffic menace.”

'Pune Bus Day' gets huge response

Residents of Pune celebrated 'Pune Bus Day' by discarding self-owned private vehicles and commuting in public transport on Thursday.

A festive atmosphere gripped the city at dawn as around 2,500 buses were deployed all over the city to discourage commuters from using private vehicles in a bid to solve the worsening traffic mess, said organisers.

I think Bangalore has lost its Bus Day concept after couple of months.
