Sanjeev - 16 January, 2016 | Bangalore | Action | Commuter rail | Suburban Rail | commutter rail
Good opportuniy missed by the bad leadership at Karnataka Govt. and Elected representatives on Commuter Rail / Suburban Rail. Will Any heads roll for this mess in karnataka :
Now Minister R V Despande makes effort to shift the SGT / Concourse terminal from Whitefield. Same was already taken care in Commuter Rail Report but GOK kept neglecting this its own reasons.
State industries minister RV Deshpande camping in Delhi to meet union minister of railways to discuss the proposal to move the container terminal oout of the IT corridor
A whopping 2,000 trucks are estimated to be entering Whitefield every day, wrecking havoc on the roads, making life miserable for techies and others.
Now the state government has come out wth a plan to deal with the multi-axle biggies on the road: it has approached the railway ministry to shift the terminal of Container Corporation of India (Concor) and the satellite goods terminal from Whitefield to Hoskote or elsewhere. Every day, 2,000-plus heavy trucks come to these terminals to transport goods which include cements, construction materials, raw materials, industrial products and various other products. As the terminals located on the main road are adjacent to IT parks, the move of the heavy trucks is obstructing the traffic. The establishment of the CONCOR has been operational since 1992 in the area and has immense experience in transport goods in consignments. However, officials of CONCOR maintain that it is not easy job to shift the terminal to elsewhere and identifying a suitable place and setting up of infrastructure is a big task. Industries minister R V Deshpande is in Delhi to meet union railway minister Suresh Prabhu to discuss the issue. Speaking to Mirror, Deshpande said, "Yes, the matter was discussed during the meeting with industrial bodies' heads and civic body chiefs. I have come to Delhi to meet the union minister. If the container terminals are shifted from Whitefield, it will definitely decongest the IT corridors. We have to take the issue forward, find possible solutions on shifting the terminals. Every hundred thousands of trucks come there to transport goods. We will also study how terminals are functioning in rest of the country while discussing the issue with the Union government."
