Ambulances need preference
beesriram - 29 April, 2008 | Traffic | Bangalore
Why dont the motorist respect the hoot of the Ambulances on the Road? Is it that the motorist do not know what their responsibility is or is it just take it easy attitude? Instead of allowing the ambulance to pass through, we wait for the ambulance to come abreast of us and then follow it through the thick of traffic. Is this fair?
Request readers/members of Bangalore praja to contribute with what does the rule say? How should a motorist react on hearing the hoot of the ambulance? Should they move to the extreme left paving way for the ambulance pass through or move to the right? If we are able to inculcate this habit amongst the road users, precious lives will be saved and many a family benifitted.
Lets begin a campaign " LET THE AMBULANCE GO".

what is even more annoying

what is even more annoying is when motorists take advantage of an Ambulance and tag it along thier route! It really shows the level of respect we have to the injured. We need a better solution for Ambulaces in Bangalore. Firstly we could do with a centralised ambulance unit. Not many numbers like E-One, CTC....Etc! I also feel there must be a compulsory medical insurance on every vehicle, which is taken from one agency, who in turns provides ambulances and emergency care to the affected party. One can't have different levels of emergency care suiting the wallet. Maybe this insurance will help create more air ambulances. An expensive proposition but will save a lot of lives.
