1.5 ft Drain Open connecting Road side to the bigger gutters.

1. Problem 1, BBMP have built this many of the area, but they fail to monitor the purpose is served. eg, many of this opening are clogged with wastes/sand. hence is it is un operational.

Resolution : Many of the Pourakarmikas, who clean the road for the dead leaves, papers, plastics, may ensure the clogging drain open can be clear on day to day basis.

Benefits : Rain water will be drained out of road speader, so that roads will less clogged.

2. Problem No.2
Many roads are being Tarred recently, with not enough slopes towards side, which result in no drainage of rain water, rather the water is getting accumulated and road gets spoiled, pot holes shows up quicker then they complete.

Resolutions : While taring the road, making sure the slopes are given adequately so that water will be running towards the Drain Opening. Drains opening are also clogged with sand and other waster which the water do not go through drain holes.

Benefit, : No Water Clogging, avoid creating the PotHoles.

3. Problem No.3
Currently we are seeing the road is tarred over the existing one. Which results in hightening of roads, inturn leads to mandatory for raising the median and foot paths. Taring on the used road many time is not getting along there by the new road starts peeling off, resulting in POTHoles.

Resoulution : A new process of removing the top layer of the Tarred Road (to be repaired) of about 2", cleaning the removed bitumen then laying the new tar will stick to the roughened road better than the current method.

Benefits : Smoothness of Road, better long lasting, re use of the scrapped road material by recycling. There by reducing the cost of purchasing Jelly stones sand, lower consumption of bitumen., Need for making the Footpath and Median will be avoided, Some expense can be saved.

4. Problem 4 : Water and drainage leakages, BBMP currently dig the roads in very awkward way, this results in unplanned size of digging, and while filling the holes they are not filling properly, either it is like the spead breaker, of a mini Potholes, which later becomes destroyer of the road surrounding the same.

Resolutions : Instead of just filling the mud with a small speed breaker, fill the dugged area with the sand taken with the top exposed area with Concrete / Cement, so that it will not be another Pothole.

Benefits : The PotHoles reparing may become only one time effort, rather than reworking on the same.

welcome thiru and a great post connecting roads and drains. drains are the most neglected of networks. imho, the primary agency in bangalore must be bwssb. everything else should be build around it and in deference to it.
