The Political Compass - assess your political leanings
s_yajaman - 24 March, 2009 | Bangalore | Politics | Elections | Analysis | Issues
Found this on the net. http://www.politicalcompass.org/index It assesses your political leanings along two axes - economic and social.
Economic leanings form the X-axis going from collectivism (Pol-pot) to neo-liberalism (Friedman). Social leanings go from Libertarian to Authoritarianism.
Take the test. It won't take too long. I came in the bottom-left quadrant (economically left and socially liberal). Quite delighted to see Mohandas Gandhi, the Dalai Lama and Nelson Mandela in the same quadrant.

Found myself in bottom left quadrant, not too far from the center though. I am guessing most of us will fall in this zone as I find most of us (I am talking about the frequent members here, those that I have met - even Murali, or Mcadambi) are moderate liberals and socialism rooted people.
Economic Left/Right: -1.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.05
Bottom Left :-)

I came across this test just today, while searching for something else. And, quite as SB had predicted, I too landed up in the left bottom quadrant. But, I was not quite prepared for being the closest to Mahatma Gandhi.
My scores - Economic: (-)4.12; Social: (-) 2.05 .
Need to celebrate that with a beer - cheers
Reinforcing the trend...

Found myself in bottom left quadrant, not too far from the center though.
Economic Left/Right: -1.75 (Excatly as SB's score)
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.38
As SB had said most of us are in middle of the right and left as we were born and grew up in socialist era slowly accepting to be liberal, economy to be free & regulated, govt socially responisble and civil society to take responisbilities.
