Boarding at Hebbal

idontspam - 7 May, 2010 - 13:36

I will be boarding at Hebbal. Will bring camera. If anybody is boarding at ypr let us know which carriage you will be in at my number 9880448853.

Sanjeev thanks for the timings, was hoping you will be joining us.

The CRS train

idontspam - 8 May, 2010 - 14:49

The ghost train turned out on time and kept time all along the way. Watch out for a report, here is the train as it approaches Hebbal station.

Being a rail fan, I could not make up this. It is a good news that train kept timings all the way. A rail day to promote CRS?

Fares are also pretty cheap I think.

OHHHH it is cheap!

manjari - 8 May, 2010 - 16:26

It took Rs. 10 from Hosur to Hebbal (59 km)
This is best part about the train other than not getting stuck in traffic :)

It is cheap, it is fast, it is punctual and best, it is a beautiful journey!

Bypanahhali is better

psaram42 - 6 May, 2010 - 08:17

As we, I and Naveen discussed, Bypanahalli is nearer for Naveen than Bellandur. It may be better to catch the train at Bypanahalli for Naveen as he can pick me too on his way. This can be worked out if SB can reach Naveens place at mutually agreed time. I am game for any other suggestions too.

Good Train, Clean Stations

Naveen - 8 May, 2010 - 17:31

Agree with Manjari - can't understand why they keep ticket prices so low. It might not even pay for the journey's fuel.

All stations were very clean & access to stations were not as bad as I had thought. For Bellandur rd station, there is parking space as also BMTC bus stand nearby. Stations at Karmelaram & Heelalige are similar.

Bellandur might be best

Naveen - 6 May, 2010 - 03:29

SB - Bellandur may be better. I can pick you up.

Naveen, pathy sir, PSA sir - hope to see you at least at the station, I am shooting for 6.30 AM.

Also hoping for someone to carry a good camera. IDS - could you please. Lets take pics of everything we can and flood the internet with pics and blogs on local train status in Bangalore.

Poor response?

idontspam - 5 May, 2010 - 02:59

This report says percentages ages are low without stating that they run 6 carriages. Devanahalli train is a dud and stupid suggestion to move the start to city station without even starting a single feeder service.

This was expected - how can a CRS that does not have appropriate station locations for commuter convenience, does not have bus connectivity to stations, does not have proper timings, & does not have professional management ever succeed ?

I think we owe it to everyone to explain what CRS could be, and how it is not about running a few rakes on same old routes and same old dusty stations on trial basis for experiments.

We had predicted last year itself that these "experiments" will fail, and then SWR or KA state (whoever of the two is lesser interested in CRS) will come out with statements saying "look, we always said CRS is neither possible nor viable for Bangalore".

8th May 2010, CRS ride

Sanjeev - 5 May, 2010 - 05:05

@IDS,

I am confirming  for the 8th May. lets hope for more crowd.

Following actions / corrective actions needed for these CRS :

1. Required  Publicity  for these services need to be done similar to Bus Day

2. BMTC should play buse for last mile connectivity at Yesvanthpur , Devanhalli, Anekal, Belandur, Banaswadi, Karmelaram, Hellage stations.

3. Timing need to be alogned with office time  at the morning and at the evening.

5. Ttrain should start from Kengeri with more frequency.

6. New  Stations at t the below Trumphet  near BIAL NH-7 and one more station at Srjapur road and Chandapur on Hosur road needed.

5. Near future these trains will help the METRO commuter  those who use Yesvanthpur  METRO station and  Railway Stations.

So we should not get disappointment,  as we can see on Hosur / Anekal segment with 30 % occupancy  shows that commuters really in nead of the Local Trains, with proper schedules of Trains on Office timings in the morning and evening with starting point  from Kengeri  will  have more occupancy.

Also as BMTC bus fares have gone up and even IT comapnies have increased their company transport bus fairs recently,  commuters will start slowly prefering these Local Trains  and with MTERO station at Yesvanthpur  ( by next year ), the patronage from the public  will improve drastically.

Also time is required for aceptance by the Public.

Poor response ?

rs - 5 May, 2010 - 08:00

I came across this article...bangalorebuzz.blogspot.com/2010/05/newly-launched-suburban-service-gets.html#links

I suppose there has been a poor response because nobody knows about it. How are people - except those who frequent Praja and the ilk - to know if such services. They should have some sort of advertising campaign and clearly inform people of this option - as well as let people know the timings. For example, I am not aware of the frequency and the times of all these CRS - otherwise I would try to use it to got from Yeswantpur or Malleswaram  to Kengeri - if that is possible. Where can one find details ?

Ramesh

Oops - I didnt realise that

rs - 5 May, 2010 - 08:02

Timings

idontspam - 5 May, 2010 - 11:40

The first train to Hosur will depart Yeshwanthpur at 6.30 am and its scheduled time of arrival at Hosur is 8 am. On its return trip, the train will leave Hosur at 8.15 am and reach Yeshwanthpur by 9. 45 am.

Some sources put the start at 6:20. Cant find info online. Will call the station to confirm and update details here. So we gather on the platform by 6:00 regardless

Train stops ?

Naveen - 5 May, 2010 - 11:58

IDS, thanks.

Could you check stops inbetween & times of arrival /dep from intermediate stns - I will probably board & hook up with you guys at either Byappanahalli or at bellandur rd.

Naveen - lets carpool to a nearby station, byp'halli or bellandur.

Does not go to Bypanahalli

Sanjeev - 6 May, 2010 - 10:57

This train will not go to Bypanahalli as the Train will take  left diversion after  Banaswadi station and goes behind Defence Land ( MEG )  and cross the Chennai line and reach the Belandur station.

This will reach Lottegolhalli at 6:30, Hebbal at 6:35,   lBanaswadi approximate time arround  6:45 AM and Belandur by :7 AM.

Bellandur gate, then

Naveen - 6 May, 2010 - 12:11

Sanjeev - many thanks for details. Does the train have a halt at Bellandur (7AM) ? If so, we can board there.

Train stops at Belandur

Sanjeev - 6 May, 2010 - 13:26

Yes, it stops at Belandur, Karmelaram, Hillaligi, Hebbal, Lotgolahalli,  mostly the timing will be before 7 AM, kindly check the exact timing.

Ghost train

idontspam - 6 May, 2010 - 14:36

Smashing!!! there is no info anywhere on any IR sites, YPR station phone just rings all day, 139 enquiry doesnt get you anywhere as you need a train number (this train possibly doesnt have one or I can get it anywhere). I even tried calling cantt. Now I just hope they are running it on saturday.

Anybody have any ideas how to get info on this ghost train?

Train timings

pathykv - 7 May, 2010 - 02:41

Railways do not give info on their time tables about passenger trains.

If you ask 139 they will say the same thing and they do not know.

Karmelram passenger

murali772 - 7 May, 2010 - 03:35

At Station Enquiry Kiosks

Sanjeev - 7 May, 2010 - 04:19

We can get the info at the Station Interactive Kiosks,  they give full details.

Any way this  YH-1 leaving at yesvanthpur at 6:20 runs on Saturday,  stops at  all stations Lottegolahalli at 6:30,  Hebbal  at  6:37,  Banaswadi  6:45,   Belandur : 7:00,  Karmelram  7:10:,  Hillilagi 7 :25  ,  Anekal 7:40  ,  reaches Hosur at  7:55.

In return direction, this will start at  8:10  and reaches Yesvanthpur at  9:50.

As all of us have seen how SW Railways are providing the info on these new trains, even tried to do the negative publicity in DH few days back.

As already YPR-Hosur YH-1 / YH-2 has reached 30% occupancy,  same SW Railways  should publish the statstics  after two months,  their will be drastic increase  in % and same will be with Devanhalli.  Now BMTC should prvide last mile connectivity.

Bellandur Parking ?

Naveen - 7 May, 2010 - 04:36

SB /Anyone - Are there any safe car parking slots at Bellandur station ? And where exactly is the station - I know it's off the ORR - any directions /landmarks would help.

Hey

I would like to come as well, from the above posts it looks like 7am is the time at Bellandur. Can someone one tell me where is the station. Also anyone who wants a parking can use my apartment parking

Belandur station

rajeevraj - 7 May, 2010 - 10:35

To go to belandur station you need to take a right(coming from silkboard side) at kadubesanahalli(the next Signal after ecospace and Intel while coming from Sikboard/agara side). Not sure how far inside it is. Should not be too far.

will not be able to make it

Sanjeev - 7 May, 2010 - 12:12

I have to attend the meeting at 9 am tomorrow, so will not be able to make it.

Have nice time and  lets know the feedback.

Writing a detailed report

silkboard - 9 May, 2010 - 06:43

Lets write all our reports on a new post. I am uploading some pictures, post will be up in a bit.

 Passenger train tickets are

ss87 - 9 May, 2010 - 17:02

Passenger train tickets are always priced low-distance of 218 km between Bangalore and Salem ticket price is Rs. 32/-. Bus fare for strech is Rs. 90/- and bus takes 5 hrs in non-peak hour on hosur road and train takes the same time-people in south bangalore reach home faster using buses from stations like Carmelram (342 provides good frequency to HSR layout and Koramangla) and Bellandur(500 series from ring road). Half-the charge of bus people reach home

Dear All,

I am planning to take my mother in law for a scan at Narayana Hrudayalaya which is on Hosur Road.  I stay in Yelahanka so I am planning to taker her by morning train till Heelalige and then to Naryana Hrudayalaya by bus or auto.

Just wanted to know how is transport facility from this station to the Naryana Hrudayala.  Can I take risk of taking the train.  As I am not aware of that area a, I would like to take suggestion from you guys for that. Please help me by providing the information.

Thanks

Sreenivas.

You need to catch the Train YH-1  at  6:40 AM  in the morning at Hebbal which is nearest to you even though it starts from Yesvantpur.

Many of the people get down at Heelalige and go for work at SKF & other companies.  As the other train coming from Dharmapuri - Bangalore- Chikbappalur also come almost same time at Heelalige from Hosur.  So their  should be couple of Auto's to pick up passengers from both trains.  You may have to wait for the  BMTC buses.

If any

No bus in morning but you can get an auto

csrm7 - 10 February, 2012 - 12:42

Hi Sreenivas,

Im not sure if there is a train from Yelahanka to Heelalige.

Bus connectivity is very very rare at this station. (Ive seen one bus in evening around 5:30...may be to pickup passengers coming by Salem-Bangalore Psngr). But nothing in the morning.

But you can get an auto in the morning time (around 9:15 AM, there will be few autos (4/5) waiting outside the station to pickup passengers coming by Salem-Yeswantpur psngr).  They charge 5 Rs/passenger till chandapura circle or 30 Rs without sharing.

-Sriram

Hi Sreenivas ji   Theres not

ss87 - 11 February, 2012 - 04:27

Hi Sreenivas ji

Theres not train from Yelahanka to Heelalige-the closest station for you is Hebbal from where the Hosur passengers can be taken-06591 is the passenger train in the morning and 06593 is the evening train - the details of the train are available here

http://indiarailinfo.com/search/997/4629?kkk=1328934317798

Heelalige station isnt well connected by bus-but however there are few trains(shuttles) that stop here in morning as well as in the evening and majority crowd for the shuttles is the engineering college located close to the station. Because of these arrivals there are chances of getting an auto but be sure that you need to bargain with them if you are taking a seperate auto for yourselves

Following BMTC buses runs from Heelalige as per this site
