Project update - Namma Railu reaches Vidhana Soudha
(Praja and CiSTUP members wait at Vidhana Soudha on September 23rd before the meeting. From left to right, Sanjeev V Dyamannavar (Praja), Prof T G Sitharam (CiSTUP), Capt Naveen Chandra (Praja), and Sathya Sankaran (Praja).)
Commuter Rail Meeting with Chief Secretary
The biggest bit of news to record during September was the progress on the Namma Railu front - the meeting called by Chief Secretary, Mr S V Ranganath, on Sept 23rd, who, at the end of the meeting, stated that he would meet with the Chairman Railway Board on his next trip to Delhi and take the board chairman along to meet the Cabinet Secretary and also Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, as also Mr K Kasturirangan, Member Planning Commission. Namma Railu project has certainly taken PRAJA into the reckoning of the top level bureaucracy in the state, the Railways, and even beyond. And, of coyurse, the biggest achievement will be if Namma Railu starts chugging along soon.
Parking Enforcement - Bringing some sense to ever growing traffic
Another area that received lot of attention in the month was "Parking enforcement & restraining traffic growth". As a part of this, a PRAJA team met Mr Praveen Sood, the dynamic Addl Commr of Police (Traffic) to pick his fertile brains in the matter. What is now proposed is to team up with a few RWA's and Business District associations to come up with a comprehensive traffic & parking management plan for their respective areas.
