Call your area MP/MLA and 'Fast Track the Suburban Rail Project'!
kbsyed61 - 26 October, 2013 | Bangalore | CRS | Bengaluru | MLA | public transport | Commuter rail | Suburban Rail | MP | People's Representative
Only way to save the project from 'MISCARRIAGE' is to sustain the project with proper political support. Bureaucrats, officers however interested and supportive they might be, they can only do so much. Beyond it, they are at the mercy of CM, Ministers and political establishment for approvals and funds allocation.
Now the only saviors are our representatives in state assembly and parliament. Unless we make them known what Suburban Rail is and how this is ncessary, we could be looking at the certain possibility of MISCARRIAGE of this baby - 'Suburban Rail'.
Here is the list of MPs and MLAs from the 'Suburban Rail catchment areas. Please pick up a phone and call them. Tell them about Suburban Rail and demand that they take up this issue with the CM and Railway Minister. Please insist on making sure that state govt gets all the approvals from Railway Ministry before Shri. Kharge's terms gets over and the Election code Kicks in. Ask them to demand for starting the initial services in next 2-3 months.

Good work, Ram
Atleast 100s of calls needed, if not thousands!
kbsyed61 - 1 November, 2013 - 15:09
Individuals who have been behind this campaign will be making every effort, but what would certainly change the game is others calling in numbers - say If 100 people can call on a MP, it will certainly have an impact. Than, even we can take up with them and ask for their reluctance.
Write, Call, Fax, do whatever you are comfortable with, but ask the politician to do his/her bit. Very little time to act. ACT NOW !

Pls leave a comment after you had called!

Called 3 MPs today!
kbsyed61 - 31 October, 2013 - 09:58
Today I called up Bangalore Central MP Mr. P.C. Mohan, Bangalore South MP Mr. Ananth Kumar and Rajya Sabha MP Mr. Rajeev Chandrashekharan.
Spoke to Mr. Mohan personally and urged him to speak to CM and RM regarding 'Suburban Rail'. He was bit curious about me calling him from US to find out what is my personal interest in this project? This is a standard question often posed to me.
I couldn't speak to Ananth KUmar, but spoke to his assistant, Mr. Tilak. I have requested him to put a word that I had called and requested for his help to take this project forward.
Same with Mr. Rajeev, I could only speak to his assitant, Mr. Anand. He acknowledged my earlier emails/letters. He has promsied to get back to me with teh action taken on it.
Taking up Suburban Rail Services with legislators-Bangarapet MLA
ram14025 - 1 November, 2013 - 07:55
CRS will be through only if our political bosses take up the issue in its sincerity for implementation. If the MPs and MLAs put pressure at appropriate forums, I strongly feel that we can see suburban services at the start of the new year, at least a skeleton services between Bangalore and Bangarapet (MEMU) and Bangalore & Tumkur (DEMU). Unfortunately differences among themselves, lack of knowledge and lack of preference on the subject are the reasons for little progress.
On Wednesday, the 30th November I met Shri KM Narayana Swamy, Bangarapet MLA in a function. We were together for more than 30 minutes. I spoke about a few subjects on railway projects including Commuter Rail System and requested for his involvement. I told him that if CRS is implemented, we will get a few more train services between Bangalore and Bangarapet. I also assured him to get clerical work done on preparing representations on his behalf to the appropriate authorities. Shri Narayana Swamy shown interest and inclination and asked me to meet him in his office. Moreover, he has good relationship with our area MP, Shri KH Muniyappa also. Through his good offices we can take up with Shri Muniyappaji.
I will talk to Shri Y Sampangi, ex-MLA of KGF on the subject as his mother is now the MLA for KGF. I think Shri Varthur Prakash, MLA of Kolar, can be approached through my friends for his involvement on the issue.

Last week called Bangalore Central and Tumkur MP
Sanjeev - 1 November, 2013 - 07:56
I could able to talk to P C Mohan on the need to push suburban rail. He promised to take up in Session this month at Delhi and also mentioned about Syeds letter on CRS.
Called Tumkur MP Basavaraj and ask him to push Kharge on the CRS and request Urban Development Minister Kamalanath to look into this and requesting funds from JNRUM.
Also visited Krishna Byregowda house and requested him to take with Railway Minister which pending. But he was not so much interested in this and looks like buse in receiving invitations and recomending petty things this is waht Krsihna Byregowda doing.
It seems after Deepawali, GOK will be sending the proposal to Railway Board and GM Hubli on the Suburban Rail Bangalore.
During Cycle Day function, had chance to talk to BBMP Mayor and submitted all papres on the Suburban Rail at Cubbon Park. He is interested on this and will follow up with him. We need to write letter on this tom him once again.
Lets others call the MP's and MLAs and aks them to put pressure on Khrage.
Good Work!

Syed /Sanjeev - this is good going. Great to have all the contacts right here for easy reference.
Ram Mohan Bangarapet, thanks & much appreciated. Pls do follow up from your end & leave a note here.
keep it up
murali772 - 1 November, 2013 - 10:56
Good work, Ram Mohan (and, of course, Syed and Sanjeev).
I expect the push will have to come largely from the outlying townships. People in Bangalore seem to be kind of obsessed with the Metro.
@Rammohan Rao - Thank you !
kbsyed61 - 1 November, 2013 - 14:55
Dear Ram Mohan Rao,
Thank you so much for taking up with the Bangarper MLA and exerting the needed pressure. Please continue to talk to MLAs, MPS, even town councilors, Municipality Chairman, Panchayat presidents. Get them to pick up a phone and dial to their political bosses that includes CM and Railway Minister.
Please let us know if you need any publicity material, we have both in English and Kannada. We can prepare some more drafts of petitions in Kannada for you. Pls let us know if you need anything.
In addition, see if we can have a public awareness camp/meeting at Bangarpet KGF and Kolar. This is another important way to show the public support and involvement of local politicians.
Once again thanks for your support and efforts. I will be send an email with my contact information for further co-operation.

Inauguration of Chikballapur-Kolar New BG line on 8.11.2013
ram14025 - 2 November, 2013 - 04:29
While speaking yesterday while inaugurating of various railway projects like opening of a new building in the Yeshwanthapur railway station, foundation-laying ceremony for ROB at Allasandra, commissioning of RoB in Judicial Layout etc., Shri Mallikarjuna Kharge has told that
Byappanahalli railway station will be made into a world class railway station in cooperation with a Belgium firm,
broad guage railway line between Chikkaballapur and Kolar will be inaugurated on 8th November 2013.
He spoke about the link between Kadur and Chikmagaluru without mentioning the date of inauguration.
He has referred Binny Mill land acquisition, which is required for expansion of Bangalore City Railway Station.
Asked about the Metro work in the City and starting of Commuter Rail Services, he reacted that 'wherever railway's help are needed, we will be more than ready.'
Rail links of Bidar-Bangalore, Hubli-Gulbarga, Hubli-Hyderabad, Hubli-Mumbai and Shimoga-Mysore, he told, will be taken up on priority basis.

Hello Syed,
This initiative of calling our MPs and MLAs carries good weight and is also more accurate in terms of getting attention for the CRS. We do need thousand of calls to our representatives. Also, we need to make this an election issue.
Will pick this up after the Deepavali holidays.
Also, Mr. Ranganath - just retired Chief Secretary to GoK may be a good source of information on what are the bottlenecks for the CRS and may also have a good idea on what buttons to press since he was at the helm for several years with various CMs. Anybody has Mr. Ranganath in his network..?

Talking points for the phone conversation with the MLA/MP!
kbsyed61 - 19 November, 2013 - 17:50
Recently, one of the praja member had requested for some talking points while making the phone call to MLA/MPs.
This is what I would suggest,
"...Sir, I am <Name> and work in <so & so> organization. I am calling regarding the implementation of Suburban Rail Service. It has come to my knowledge that GOK has sent a formal proposal to Railways for their approval.
This is the best time as Railway Minister is Mr. Kharge. I would request you to take up this matter personally with both CM and Kharge. Actually the best would be that you meet them personally and request them for expediting the approval process. You know in few weeks everybody will get busy with general elections and this may get delayed. If Railways approves this, within next 3-6 months we can start some initial trains and would benefit lakhs of commuters...”
If anybody would like add/modify, pls feel free to do so.
Taking up suburban rail services to Bangalore with local MLAs
ram14025 - 19 December, 2013 - 03:23
After Praja initiated 'contact elected reps' program for pressuring the political set up and taking a speedy decision on the suburban rail service for Bangalore, I am in contant touch with our MLA, Shri KM Narayana Swamy, Bangarapet Constituency. Recently when there was a Municipal Ward Meeting for the public in our area, chaired by the MLA, after talking about Ward issues, I have submitted a request on suburban rail issue enclosing the brochures on suburban rail in English and Kannada. He assured us to take up the issue directly with the Railway Minister, Mr Kharge.
Mr Narayana Swamy, MLA spoke to me recently telling that he is scheduled to meet the Railway Minister at New Delhi and sought my help in preparing representations on issues pertaining to railways and also on suburban rail. Accordingly I have prepared representations on his behalf and handed over to him.
I was told that a team of Congress leaders from Bangarapet led by our MLA, Mr. Narayana Swamy had more than an hour meeting with Mr Kharge on 18th Dec 2013 and an assurance was given by the Minister to look into the subjects in tis entirety including the subject of suburban rail service for Bangalore.
This is for the information of all.
