BEML EMU SS coach specs

Indian Railway has ordered different coaches for Suburban Trains  & this is apart from METRO coaches :

1. DEMU coaches on BEML during Jan'2012 for  20 Rakes of DEMU with 8 coach formation at the cost of Rs 20 / 21 Crore

That means in backyard of Bangalore, even though DEMU / MEMU / EMU coaches are manufactured, but Bangalore do not get these coches for us.

SWR or  DULT / IDD are struggling to get one Rake of DEMU / MEMU since last 3 Years and same rakes manufactured in Bangalore city are all over India.

Why can't BEML help  the city by supplying one Rake of 6 coaches each for  Bangalore every three months.

I think its high time that CM of Karnataka and Railway Minister interven and get the required coaches for Commuter Rail.

Commuter-like traffic around big cities

Railways already have a scheme in place for running of various categories of trains like

suburban (EMU, MEMU, DEMU etc) inter-city trains, passenger trains around big cities.

A Committee of Executive Directors was constituted to study the introduction of

MEMU/DEMU service for the next five years. The Committee has recommended the use

of MEMU/DEMU for a distance of 160 kms. Based on the report, it is planned to acquire

55 units each of MEMU & DEMU (1 Motor Car & 3 Trolley Cars) per annum.

Bangalore should get the share and planing commission should look into more allocations.

On Page No 21 : EMU / MEMU car sheds proposed :

A/C Locals similar to metro will totally revolutionize local train travel in India and this is the need of the hour.

If we get such locals, probably GoK will even start thinking to have them to connect to BIAL instead of Metro extension.

The design of the AC rake will be similar to the ones on the Kolkata metro. Coaches will have longitudinal seating. A coach will hold 400 commuters, including standees.

The 12-car rake with a vestibule design will hold 4,500 commuters and allow people to move between coaches. A decision on reserving a coach for women is yet to be taken. There will not be any first-class compartment or one reserved for vendors.

The manufacturing cost of a coach is an estimated Rs 4 crore. There will be microprocessor-controlled temperature inside, low external and internal noise, LED signs inside and outside the train, a public address system, LCD screens inside coaches, and advanced braking features.

"We have to ensure that the power supply system is perfect enough to run the train as well as provide good cooling in the coaches," an official said. "Kolkata metro rakes operate on 750 volt direct current traction. Unlike the eight-coach rakes on the Kolkata metro, the AC rakes on WR will have 12 coaches."

Bangalore has small 16 coaches of MEMU as against other METROs of 1000 numbers.  That means GOI, Railway Board have treated Bangalore badly when it has come to Subruban Rail.  Equally resposnsible are GOK, MP's, MLAs and  lazy citizens of Bangalore who are willing to pay  heafty tolls to enter hyped garden city.

 

South Western railway is the most profitable regions in the Indian Railways. But, the railway ministry or the board has not made any increase in the rail traffic utilizing all the lines in the SWR region. The mysore region has many funds but it is not utilizing the same with great consent to the public. Their is no railway booking or rail ticket selling shops in bangalore. Atleast for every assembly constituency their must be a railway booking and ticket selling center which will help the commuters in a great way. Waiting long queues in Majestic is an hindrance to the public. Please look into this issue to have railway booking and ticket selling counters in every assembly constituency.
