Crack down on vandals
murali772 - 16 October, 2008 | Bangalore | law and order | Police | Analysis | Security | violence
The Maharashtra government has proposed a jail term of up to five years, or a big fine, or both for those who vandalize public property during protests or due to a personal grudge.
In Karnataka, we have seen vandals going scot-free, even though there is enough evidence. Forget about damage, even those who lynched a policeman during the funeral of legendary thespian Rajkumar in Bangalore are yet to be caught and punished.
Isn’t it time the state too goes in for such tough measures?
The above report appeared in the TOI on Sunday, the 12th Oct, '08.
Indeed it's more than time we adopted such tough measures too.
