Corporate sector seems to go all out for research during recession. "The good practice is to invest more on research. It's the time when the corporate sector has to prove its technological edge, and wait for economy's bounce back. In the process, weaker companies which fail to upgrade technology during this period get eliminated from the market,'' said Gopichand Katragadda, General Manager of GE India Engineering Operations.
Gopichand said it was an opportunity for academically oriented students to upgrade qualifications. "Most of the time, bright students get job immediately after their graduation. During recession, there are fewer jobs, and more students will sign up for PhD and other research programs,'' he said.

While the corrupt and inefficient are eliminated during recession, Young People like Gopichand Katragadda have better suggestions for entrepreneurs as evident from the above quote.
Gopichand Katragadda is the great grandson of tripuraneni ramaswamy also known as “Kaviraj”. His (tripuraneni ramaswamy’s) statue is one of the many statues on Hyderabad Tank bund. Gopichand Katragadda’s fist book “S.M.A.S.H on innovation” a Wiley publication was released recently in a function at Palm Meadows Club, which I attended and have a copy of the book.
