Benefits offered for riding a car - None for using public transport!!!

Recently my friend working in another company told that he was given 1lakh by his company to buy a car after using which he cannot use company shuttles. I felt this move by the company is ridiculous to encourage private car usage. He now drives all the way from Katriguppe to Byappanahalli causing congestion and emmission all over.

Was at the service centre the other day and was discussing ways to improve mileage of cars. One of the thoughts that came up was with the visits to the petrol pump. My habit is to have less than quarter tank full at any refill point(on my daily commute)..

Seat belts optional in Bangalore?

 Is the wearing of seat belts optional in Bangalore?  On my recent visits here I find (on a quick check) less than 30% of private car drivers wear seat belts, almost no taxi driver and LCV driver wears one.

One of my danish colleagues had remarked that our country, instead of helping the poor & taxing the rich, was subsidising the car users with lower fuel costs since all oil imports were being sold at lesser price than what they actually cost in India.
