ShashankHosahally - 25-JAN-2013

This is my first post and I wish to share intersting facts and issues in my city.

We have heard so much of the garbage dump not cleared in time. But has anyone observed the over flowing of drainage water in most streets around Bangalore. Why is there not enough concerns/ voice raised against the waiting to disaster epidemic.

Ward no 58 - messy ways of handling storm water drain maintenance.

psaram42 - 24-JUN-2011

The 80’ road in Indiranagar is a main road between HAL II and III stages, which are the two BDA developed localities of 1970s. Currently this road is witnessing a spurt of commercial activity. New posh commercial buildings are coming up on both sides. There is a big wide [approx 6’and 5’ depth] storm water drain along one side of the road.

psaram42 - 2-JAN-2011

Yesterday News X TV channel carried the story with footage of big size CFC cables found in the man holes sewage lines. The anchor was trying to color it as a multi crore scam of the same order as the 2G spectrum scam. I was curious to find whether the story would appear in TOI too. However to my surprise I found it in Deccan Herald.

Covering of storm water drains: Useless and detrimental

vneevarp - 2-AUG-2010

I've noticed a lot of activity in our locality with the authorities covering the storm water drains in front of houses. These drains for more than 20 years, carried only storm water when it rained and otherwise were quite dry. On an average, they are about 1 1/2 feet wide and about 1 1/2 feet deep.

Practical Road standards for manageable Cross Sections

psaram42 - 27-JUL-2010

A road is not the mere outer visible surface. It is a volume to be precise. [This “Volume” concept is more attractive than conceiving a road as a  3-D object. Thanks to my visit to CSTEP some time back]. Its underbelly is the home of many services essential for the city / place it serves.
