Folks at Hebbal have come out with a revolutionary idea. The Hebbal-jana plan to get together and thrash out a plan for Hebbal. Next, they will hand this plan to their MLA, with the express understanding that he will execute that plan. Very interesting dont you think? I am salivating imagining the possibilities and fallouts. People's ideas will get executed. But more interestingly can you imagine what it can do to governance and electoral and devlopment politics? Awesome. Hebbal-janre, all the best.

Many may not know that Government of India hosts an online grievance forum. The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances is the nodal agency to formulate policy guidelines for citizen-centric governance in the country. Redressing citizens' grievances being one of the most important initiatives of the department, DARPG formulates public grievance redress mechanisms for effective and timely redress / settlement of citizens' grievances.

Online grievance systems - they do reply

blr_editor - 9-JUN-2008

Here is an example from ramesh_mbabu for us. Ramesh wrote on the central government's online grievance system (DPAR's PG Portal), and he did hear from them (see below).

Many government bodies now have online mechanisms to take in complaints, and from experiences we hear, many of these work. Work as in - you get a response back, though a good # of responses could be generic (thanks for the note, we will do something - type of thing). But even for the grievance redressing systems that work, we have heard that very few citizens actually use them. Why? Perhaps lack of awareness.

Expectations from the new govt.

tsubba - 26-MAY-2008

BJP is set to form the govt. But still, there are doubts about the sustainability of its govt., because of the million and one things that can go wrong. Those calculations are beyond my depth. But hoping that this govt. will last a considerable period of time, what are your expectations from the government, irrespective of whether you voted for it nor not? What would you like the govt. to do for bangalore? I will start with my top two wishes.

Building plan submission and clearance - all online!?

silkboard - 9-MAY-2008

Spotted a news clip in Pune newspaper (ToI) this week that said - PCMC (Pimpri Chinchwad, a Pune suburb) is planning to make sanctioning of building plans an online process. So:

"At present, builders are required to submit the papers and the necessary documents pertaining to building plans to the PCMC. The civic body has now developed a software to scrutinise the papers once they are submitted on-line ... The software will help in checking all aspects of the building plans and confirm whether they comply with the building bylaws, TDR and FSI restrictions, etc."
