The city could well be going the Mumbai way. In a first step to revive suburban trains for better connectivity into the city, Rail Indian Technical and Economic Services (RITES) will ready the feasibility study by June first week. The Suburban Commuter Rail System will connect nearby high-density locations like Ramanagaram, Mandya, Chikkaballapur and Hosur to the city

We had done such rush hour train watch exercises two years ago at Whitefield station. Last week, got a chance to do it at KR Puram station. Had to be at KR Puram station early in the morning for a pick up. Was there on Friday, 6th April, from 7.05 am to 8.25 am. From commuter rail perspective, that would be rush hour, right?

From 2015, 12-car trains to run on harbour line

After three years, it might not be that difficult to board a Panvel train.

The union cabinet and its committees have given the green light to run 12-car trains on the harbour line from CST-Belapur-Panvel and Bandra-Andheri section and alsoinformed the railway ministry about it in early February.

Rithesh Swamy lives near the Yelahanka Railway Station. Yet, his travel to ITPL is cumbersome as there are no connecting trains till ITPL from Yelahanka during peak office hours. The KR Puram, Hebbal and Marathahalli junctions are chock-a-block with vehicles in peak hours. A well-networked commuter rail will provide some respite, say passengers.
