Expectations from the new govt. tsubba - 26-MAY-2008BJP is set to form the govt. But still, there are doubts about the sustainability of its govt., because of the million and one things that can go wrong. Those calculations are beyond my depth. But hoping that this govt. will last a considerable period of time, what are your expectations from the government, irrespective of whether you voted for it nor not? What would you like the govt. to do for bangalore? I will start with my top two wishes. |

Energy Efficiency in Buildings shas3n - 20-MAY-2008
As the summer months progress and our hydro-electric reservoirs dry down, along comes the dreaded load-shedding. While it is true that the demand for electricity is far greater than the supply, I guess there is surely something we can do to shorten this gap from the supply end. For this post, I would skip the issues with ‘leakage’ or electricity and ‘grid inefficiency’ and would discuss about the technical and policy aspects at the end-user level. I hope you will be able to add your inputs and we can get the required policy changes through collective lobbying. (Image Courtesy jalalspage)

Yes or No for BRTS - stats and numbers? silkboard - 29-APR-2008
There are multiple threads popping on BRTS here and elsewhere, thanks to the situation at Delhi and Pune. Here is one more, but focused only on gathering statstics required to support or counter the BRTS decisions. What would be realistic ridership targets for a BRTS at Bangalore, Pune or Delhi - basically, size of target market? What is the current profile of road space usage? What is the average commute distance in these cities (Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Ahmedabad)? |
Hubli-Bangalore-Mysore, Full Speed Ahead!! tsubba - 17-SEP-2007
It is the season of big plans, UP has announced a staggering 1000kms of 8 lanes expressway running the entire length of the state from east to west. Not to be outdone, inspired by a CII proposal for a Mumbai-Bangalore-Chennai high speed freight corridor, the KA state government has tossed in the idea for a high speed passenger corridor in KA, that'll do Bangalore-Hubli in 2 hours, Bangalore-Mysore in 40 minutes. This, apparently, is the "Just In Time" concept to de-congest Bangalore. |
kamalakar pandit - 25-AUG-2014
Hi, I saw the MP Pratap simha post this morning, in which he says that central govt has released 12.5 cr for Mysore region to buy buses. I replayed to his post requesting to buy more of Hybrid buses than the diesel buses. Its high time the Mysore or Bangalore Transportion dept buy more of hybrid buses to reduce the pollution. |
