Callous Attittude of BMTC Authorities - No ownership of work -highly deplorable.

Neeyathi_hemmige - 30-JUN-2010

Hi Prajas,

The BMTC bus fares have been hiked... and the monthly pass with the new revised rates have still not reached the pass-counters be it at BMTC major bus-stands (Majestic,Shivajinagar, KR Market) leave alone other bus-depots.

The great Indian passport farce

idontspam - 2-JUN-2010

My sister visited Passport Service Kendra in Devarabeesanahalli on the 25th for the reissue of passport of her minor child. Needed to travel for a family emergency so she checked the option for tatkal.

First WTF moment. The officer checking the application scratches out her tatkal mark and ticks normal, reason given, another inspecting officer will make the determination after hearing your case and not you.

Second WTF moment. She waits patiently for the interview where the officer says oh you marked normal on your application so you wont get tatkal. He didnt accept the argument that his own officer, who was nowhere to be seen at that time, had changed it. As a solace she is told the passport will arrive in 3 days flat.

So all arrangements to handle the family emergency and postponement of  tickets on penalty is arranged. Now comes the whammy its 2nd june and no trace of the passport. Status as of 2nd June is

"Passport will be dispatched within 3 working days excluding the date of submission."

A web query to check the status met with the following response

Manivannan transferred, by minister Suresh Kumar?

Traffic and IMV act violations: in Bangalore GALORE!

It is routine to see red light jumping, oneway violations, parking violations, slow moving vehicles in the outer most lanes, wheeliing which recently cost lives,  cell phone driving, overloaded 2/3 wheelers especially with young innocent children whose lives are endangered. Recently I saw a horrifying one motorcycle with SIX on it- 2 adults 1 kid in between and 3 kids on the gas tank. Under aged driving, tinted glasses, defective number plates( a new breed of glaring LED number plates combined with reflecting italics  small number plates makes identification impossible even from a 3 foot distance of an immobile 2 or 4 wheeler fitted with this kind of number plate.-video attached), kannada only number plates on autos and taxis, no side boards are all designed to evade identification and hence irresponsible behaviour.

Delhi Metro - Things to be learnt from it

Vasanth - 26-AUG-2007

After watching the program on Discovery on Delhi Metro, I was really amazed the way in which it has been done within India and an international channel like discovery has appreciated it. Vision of one man - Shreedharan is amazing. Following are the things I felt that should be incorporated in our Bangalore Metro.

Are Bangaloreans losing their good nature and civic sense?

IanRes - 13-MAY-2010

This is about an incident that i witnessed in Bangalore few weeks ago.

I had been to a single screen theatre few weeks back to watch a Kannada movie. The theatre was crowded since it was a Sunday. The problem arised when the movie started. The "fans" of the movie hero, started chanting his name and shouting slogans of praise for him when the movie name was displayed. This never stopped till the end of the movie, not even for a minute! They might have watched the movie before, but how is it right to spoil the movie for the others?? They were so loud that we could not hear the dialogues properly, none of us could tell them anything lest they charge at us for being so un-fanly.. I am a fan of the star too, but shouting the slogans inside the movie hall and disturbing everyone really upset most of the other audience.

The other thing I generally notice is the habit of many people in Bangalore these days to spit on roads for no reason at all! They dont chew tobacco/pan, still they spit on roads, on pavements, from bus windows etc. There should be some strict legislation to curb such bad habits so that Bangalore stays a clean city.

A sorry institution called BESCOM

Hey all,

In bangalore there is a place in the name of seegehalli where we have a shell petrol bunk. In front of that there lies "JANAPRIYA SAI DARSHAN". The association cannot be blamed in these flats because they are worse than the Govt of India (arnt we folks tired of blaming them).

This area falls under an AE named Yogish, I guess Yogish has got his position as what he is thanks to the "DRUNK LINESMEN".

On the 27th of March 2010 3 drunk linesmen come at round 11'o clock (AM) and disconnect my line which is very much in the above said apartment. I confront them and in the best of words request them not to disconnect since I had no idea what the bill was since it had never reached me.

Rs 520 is the bill I was informed which was paid on the spot. The drunk linesmen inspite of paying the amount disconnected the fuse.

Reporting encroachment by temple on road - how?

geodesic - 22-APR-2010

If I wanted to report an encroachment on to a public road, can I do so on Spandana - BBMP's website?

If yes, should I be selecting "Engineering" or "Legal" as the department?

There is a temple near my locality that has encroached on the main road; they have put up a "temporary" shelter for some pooja/festival which is yet to be removed even after a month! Because of this shelter, only half the lane is left. So everyday there is a jam at that point because vehicles cannot pass.

How does one report this? Also, how does one do it without being targeted or harassed by "religious" people?

Prajagale, please advise.

Proud of my Corporator?

Srivatsava - 5-APR-2010

I just went across the profile of the candidate whom has won the BBMP election from my ward. I 'shamefully' admit to have voted for this person. Given that I had little info on the three candidates contesting, I just went by the party.

Now, I do realise that this great person is a 2nd PUC failure!!

Do you have any better luck, corporators that you be proud of?

And, considering that we have pushed ourselves in the levels of education since the Constitution was drafted in 1950, and considering that the urban electorate is a little more educated than the semi-urban or rural parts - Isnt it the time for us to review the minimal educational requirements of our candidates, atleast for urban local bodies?

With only such candidates on offer, can we ever expect them to understand the various issues of administration, let alone solve them? Your thoughts, rants, and solutions appreciated!!

Christ College Bus Stop Nightmares at Dairy Circle

sunrise - 30-MAR-2010

Christ college bus stop immediately after Nandini dairy is becoming a hell day by day.

Narrow road, with two lanes (will say single lane after getting congested) fully occupied by autos and private buses stops happily for hours, on top of that BMTC buses will stop next to next on road, they will drive on competition basis giving night mares to the people driving behind.

There is no signal and if you see at the peak times, you will see the traffic jam up to dairy circle, with minimum of 200-300 vehicles got struck behind these mangoos arrogant drivers. And to cross just that bus stop will take 10-15mins in peak time.

What a great planning of Brurth Bangalore Mahanaga Palike (will say exactly as bakwaasss for bruhath). What a thought of these officials, should give the award of most complicated officials on earth. Their minds will work like mercury for money, not for the future of citizens and their comfort. And these guys should mind that they are also victims of the same?

On narrow roads, making bus stops, no planning for bus stops, did these planning guys have minds, how to implement bus stops. What a pathetic stage we are in?
