Building Use - Illegal Refreshment/Hotel in Residential Area

apsfriends - 30-JUL-2013

There was a time when the area of Basavanagudi especially Police Station Road was peaceful and resident friendly.

However from last 6-8 months there is a lot of commerical activities which are coming up in the residential area and the whole charm of the old bangalore is completely lost.

Are our current efforts good enough?

Bangalore is Mine - 1-JAN-2013

I understand Praja is doing an outstanding work in terms of creating awareness and action groups .

However, do we think that we could have utilized the recent Delhi incident to highlight growing crimes and violations in our city?

Like BTP's Public-Eye, why not BBMP as well?

silkboard - 22-NOV-2012

Traffic Police just launched "Public Eye" (discuss that on Rithesh's old post here). I was wondering why BBMP too can't have similar system where one can take pictures of byelaw or public space violations and upload to BBMP.

Money for BBMP from Cable/Fibre operators

silkboard - 16-OCT-2012

On some forums etc, I am surprised to see people object to BBMP looking to charge Fibre/Cable operators for using trees, poles, sewrage lines, road side trenches etc. Why not? Leave the part about these guys (esp the cable operators) weaving an ugly tangled web around us (look up anywhere in the city, and you will see).

Keeping bus lane clear - how hard will it be?

silkboard - 2-DEC-2011

Two videos, one from the NYC, US, and another Bangkok, Thailand. East or West, keeping Bus lanes clear isn't that easy. How will we do it in Bangalore? Bus mounted Cameras to take snapshots of moving vehicles ahead, and fine random 10 every day from the pictures taken? Or simple 'heavy fine' warning to induce fear?

About using Transgenders in Traffic Control Program

Bheema.Upadhyaya - 24-JUN-2011

Today while stopping at a signal in Veerasandra Cross/ Hosur Road Junction a transgender approached me for her(his) due.  Usually I wont turn up. Today I wanted to talk to him(her). So I offered Rs.10 as a talking fee :). I casually asked if he(she) would interested to help traffic control. The answer was positive but she(he) was hopeless that anyone would co-operate by seeing them.

(Auto)mobile hotels

Bheema.Upadhyaya - 5-MAY-2011

While we are all ok with such shops, as they provide quick solutions to auto/cab/bus drivers I am just wondering

a) Are valid license holders to do the business?

b) Is their vehicle authorized to use for such purposes (which shows white number plate)?

c) Does the RTO rules permit usage of private vehicles for business use?

d) Do the business owner pay taxes?

Cops 'looked the other way' - cricket the reason

silkboard - 1-APR-2011

Quoting from Page #2, DNA, this morning, Mr Shankar Bidari, and Mr Sood like to play the generous cop. Looks like it was okay to do certain things on Wednesday night for cricketing reasons. No comments, but wanted to check if anyone else has reactions to these statements of generosity.

DNA reporter seems to have liked it.

Auto Rickshaw service in Bangalore city

PManish - 28-MAR-2011

Dear Sir, we citizens at Bangalore do not get proper service from auto rickshaw. Here are the list of complaints.

1. Most of the auto rickshaw drivers simply denies to come at our destination place.

2. If someone agree, they will demand lump-sum amount. That amount is much more than actual charges as per meter.

Mr. Praveen Sood, The unwritten stops at start and end of flyovers - why? - Specially the Domlur flyover

dvsquare - 12-JAN-2011

I have taken 2 snaps below - one at the Domlur flyover and another of Jayadeva Flyover. These photos clearly show why there are jams before and after the flyover.
