Station and the Airport

silkboard - 23-SEP-2008

city station 1Imagine the noise if our new international airport had no escalators to take you up from check-in area to the departure hall? 'Super shoddy', 'oh these cheapos', coin-your-expletives, or 'like our station' right? Switch over to the City station, and remember how you lugged your stuff up the stairs from the platform to the footbridge and back down again.

We can hear you say - there are porters to help. Why does the airport not save some money by arranging for 50-60 porters? Before this gets into socialism vs capitalism like arguments, analyze this.

Rail for cargo not for people

mcadambi - 16-SEP-2008

GoK is more intent on using the railway infrastructure for Cargo purposes for the proposed Devanahalli Business Park (DBP) and does not seem to be inclined to using it for commuters.

See the "sop" of railways mentioned in the EoI for the DBP :

HAL airport reopening - Connectivity and Access first, reopen later.

kbsyed61 - 16-SEP-2008

HAL Airport - from IRRIf powers that be are determined to reopen HAL airport for commercial operations, whether for full fledged operations or limited, connectivity and access issues must be fixed first. I am voting here for a "Connectivity and Access First, Airport Later" campaign. Here are some high level items that should get addressed before the airport resumes its commercial operations.

AAI employees to go on strike...

kbsyed61 - 19-AUG-2008

In BIAL discussions, there were arguments and counter arguments about BIAL getting monoply status and holding Bangalore avaition hostage etc. There is a news item from "The Hindu" about strike from AAI employees. Is it OK for AAI employees to go on a strike even if it at comes with passenger incovenience and air travellers being held hostage ? I would really look forward to comments/reactions from Praja members on this issue.
