Looking for inputs for a presentation on Hubli Dharwad CDP - ASAP srkulhalli - 16-OCT-2008
I have been asked to make a presentation which would be presented to high profile group meeting in Hubli (ABIDE like). The aim at the end of the day is to get improvements incorporated in the CDP (comprehensive development plan), which is under revision. |

Also included is the Report of the Advisory Committee on the Draft Revised Master Plan -2015, also called the PSS Thomas Committee Report, which was set up to analyse citizens feedback.

2000 acres for IT park, what about other things? silkboard - 7-AUG-2008
I am terribly sorry. But I have an issue with developments like these - new IT park on 2000 acres around the city (source: DH). No, I am not going to speak the beaten line of farmland acquisition. I am not anti development at all, but I speak for us, the urban dwellers who lead close to miserable lives in this city today. The government is setting up a sprawling IT park on 2,000 acres around the City to create the much-needed space for IT firms to expand their activities. Wonderful news, and the plans look good. But lets do some maths now.

How hard is it to make a post like this? Examples abound. Here is another one from Marathahalli. A new tall building popped up earlier this year, and a Shanthi Sagar showed up, I am guessing as a tenant. Of course, the parking has been planned for. Its in the basement. Spot the basement there, just to the left of stairs?

Privatization - Can It improve Transport /Power /Water Supply ? Naveen - 27-MAY-2008
Should BMTC, BWSSB & KPTC be privatizied ? Will such a move improve services & benefit citizens in the years ahead ? When will it be a good time to think of privatizing these entities ? Are we happy with their services as they are ? If not, are there ways to improve them without privatization ? Are there successful examples of such privatization ?

Planning BRT Corridors along narrower
/congested roads & areas can be done by using up only one lane
about 12-ft wide for one-way flows whilst using a similar lane on a
different road for the return journey. This also has the advantage of
wider coverage thrown in for the benefit of commuters. On wider roads,
Syamese-twin pairs of bus-ways can be planned with overtaking facility
at some bus stops for express /skip-stop services (20 ft width corridor
would be required at bus stops for this, but they can be staggered on
up & down directions to prevent 40’ width of the road at any given
point from being used up).
