Though I'm restricting myself to Bangaluru urban instrastructure, I believe this might be applicable to most of Indian cities.

There is a separate department  in Karnataka government for town planning - Department of Town and Country planning - https://www.karnataka.gov.in/dtcp/Pages/kstpb.aspx.

Chamundi Express where people are forces to stand on both sides to get into the train as SWR is having peak time no trains running between 4:30PM to 6:30PM towards Mysore from Bangalore city station.

I had an occasion to set a quiz for a group of friends recently. I set one round on the above subject, and the following were the questions:

Cycle Day in Layouts and Localities, which are close to rail lines

Dear Prajagale,

It may be a good idea to hold the cycle day event held at layouts and localities in Bangalore, which are in close proximity to rail lines and railway stations. A lot of us who have grown up hearing the noise of the chugging trains relate to the concept of a suburban railway in comparison to others.

Mapping your local bicycle store

Some years ago I started an initiative to mapt the bike stores. It saw a few entries but the community wasnt large enough. With pollution & congestion assisting the drive to take up NMT modes like cycling via cycle day event the community has increased by leaps & bounds. Newer & more trips are being made & more cycles are being bought now than before.

Its hearatening to see Karnata State Pollution Control Board ( I would shorten as PolBoard) much active online. I guess its headed by Mr. Vamana Acharya.
