Local shuttle ideas for next Bus Day (March 4)

silkboard - 22-FEB-2010

Now that BMTC and Transport Minister have liked the concept, let us make suggestions to make the most, and more immportant. meaningful use of the idea-pad cum marketing event called Bus Day.

Tata magic or winger for last mile connectivity

vinod_shankar - 16-FEB-2010

I'm proposing a few options for last mile connectivity.   If BMTC cannot operate shuttle service, then it makes sense for BMTC to buy the vehicles and ask private players to operate on designated route and frequency.  This is model followed by delhi metro to run its feeder buses.  BMTC needs to innovate in this space try a few models to see if it makes sense.  Since BMT

Shuttle suggestions based on our experiences

Vasanth - 5-FEB-2010

After reading everyone's Bus Day experiences in these posts, I felt we can have two approaches:

BMTC launching Local Loop Services on Bus Day

silkboard - 3-FEB-2010

Good news. BMTC will be launching local loop bus services on February 4, the first Bus Day for Bengaluru. "Whitefield Sarige" will be running loops in Whitefield suburban area covering Marathahalli, Brookfields, ITPL, Hope Farm, Whitefield Market, Varthur Road etc. A similar service will connect various points inside Electronics City.

Big10 - 5 things to build upon BMTC's direction-based rework

silkboard - 5-JAN-2010

What's your Bangalore Bus dream? I will tell you mine. Take local area bus to get to nearest Large bus stop in your sub-urb or locality. Or take your car to the Park And Ride Plaza in your sub-urb. Then change to a Big10. Dedicated lanes at places make sure you feel good about watching the cars wait in jams and chaos.

silkboard - 26-OCT-2009

To continue the dream series, and realization around commuter rail (CRS) possibilities, how do you imagine the suburban area around Sarjapur Road if CRS were to be around? Yes, water problem is another thing, but on transportation front:

The station

Where is the Rail station? Well, something already exists.

The Vajra 500 route, rapid, but last mile remains

silkboard - 30-JUN-2009

Finally, we managed to convince parents to leave behind their car for the J P Nagar to Whitefield trip they take so often to come see us. And now they love it. Better ride and no tension of driving. What clinched the deal was a simple game one evening, when their grandson said "let me count all 500Cs coming the other way".

Now, mini buses

murali772 - 8-JUN-2009

The corporation has decided to induct mini-buses to act as feeder to the metro rail, before the metro becomes operational.

Guidelines for bus feeder services

Srivatsava - 1-APR-2009

During the Big10 meeting with Prof. Ashwin Mahesh, it was suggested that Praja-galu can suggest feeder bus services, which the professor could take up with BMTC.
