Media report card on just concluded Bus Day initiative! kbsyed61 - 5-FEB-2010
Here is a media reports round up of the Bus Day initiative we triggered and participated in. Good coverage all around, and going by some of the reports (25% jump in ridership, breather on some corridors etc), looks like the city has made a good beginning. The event is likely to become a permanent fixture on BMTC's and Bengaluru's calendar. Lets hope BMTC will act fast on all the feedback the event generated for them. Gone are the days when the media used to uphold highest standards in reporting and used to consist of people with integrity. Like all other institutions, the media in India has deteriorated to absolutely pathetic levels. Real issues are sidelined and only issues that advance the vested interests of the media and/ or the political friends are showcased. |

9th May 'interaction' with Metro - who were "they"? silkboard - 12-MAY-2009
There are reports around about how the 9th May interaction between Metro and Laxman Rau Park and Lalbagh lovers (fronted by Hasiru Usiru) turned 'ugly'. After reading enough on HU mailing list, and hearing a first hand account of the event, I learn that some "special" people were brought (by whom?) to project the other ("we love Metro") view. |
Peace March, Bangalore: A Report Photoyogi - 3-DEC-2008
This morning I got this email fwd from a friend in the US, calling citizens to gather at cubbon park, and express their feeling with the terror attacks in Mumbai. Yes, the past few days I have been tracking this news across the prominent national TV channels. My blood boils, my heart broke on seeing the the Taj Palace burn. |
silkboard - 11-SEP-2008Read a very sensible letter to editor in DH yesterday (forget the name, sorry). It said something I so agree with. Whats this "100 days of government" business? I was disappointed to see Yeddy even trying to list 100-day achievements via newspaper ads. And then media asking for opinions on 100-days. Can a meaningful as well as visible change be caused by a state government in just over three months? Aren't we impatient if we expect that? Doesn't this impatience put pressure on elected folks to do the same short-sighted things that we later |
