Elite journals like Economic and Political Weekly are full of articles describing Indian economic policy as neo-liberal. This might lead readers to think that India has become a haven of economic freedom, a business paradise. Anybody who has actually tried to start and run a business will tell you this is a pack of lies, but the fiction continues unabated.

City Buses in PPP mode - Bhubaneswar. Why not Mysore?

Did you know that Bhubaneswar operates Buses in PPP model? They may be planning a BRT too in PPP or outsourced model (see another post for details). Any idea on population and size of Bbsr? 9 lakhs, 135 sqkm. Mysooru? Almost the same, close to 10 lakhs, 130 sqkm.

In Dandinashivara ZP constituency (Turuvekere taluk, Tumkur dt), various party candidates had promised the voters of getting a KSRTC bus facility sanctioned to Kurubarahalli Koppa village. Retired school teacher H K Nanjamma, hailing from Hullekere village, had contested as a BJP rebel candidate but lost to the BJP official candidate.

If Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) wants to hike the power tariff, you have the right to question its performance. As per law, the inefficiencies of the electricity supply companies (Escoms) cannot become a burden on consumers.

BMTC and monopoly - opening up Local Bus Transport in Bangalore

BMTC has monopoly in operating road based public transport services in Bangalore. No-one is allowed to operate buses to carry general public in Bangalore. Special and closed situations like Private companies shuttling their employees, and schools hauling in their students are the only exceptions to this monopoly.
