What's so awfully wrong with Bangalore Metro design ? cvikash - 19-SEP-2007The basic problem with Bangalore Metro Rail design, which is a "carbon copy" of the Delhi Metro Rail design is: i. its failure to define a catchment area and ii. design for seamless integration of feeder services and metro rail system (with seamless ticketing and intermodal synchronization) - RIGHT AT THE INCEPTION. |

Hubli-Bangalore-Mysore, Full Speed Ahead!! tsubba - 17-SEP-2007
It is the season of big plans, UP has announced a staggering 1000kms of 8 lanes expressway running the entire length of the state from east to west. Not to be outdone, inspired by a CII proposal for a Mumbai-Bangalore-Chennai high speed freight corridor, the KA state government has tossed in the idea for a high speed passenger corridor in KA, that'll do Bangalore-Hubli in 2 hours, Bangalore-Mysore in 40 minutes. This, apparently, is the "Just In Time" concept to de-congest Bangalore. |

Does not seem long while since we were happy to see some traction with Mono rail. Even bids were being evaluated for Mono. Now, the project seems to be totally off the track with the Government changing it mind on how they want the project to be tendered.

Vision of one man - Shreedharan is amazing. Following are the things I felt that should be incorporated in our Bangalore Metro. |
silkboard - 21-AUG-2007
Just read through Bangalore Metro's August'07 updates. Read through the first few pages of that pdf, and you realize that land acquisition seems to be delaying a few tasks - notice the schedule column, search for phrases "revised" or "after land acquisition". These delays were always expected to be a part of the project, so no complaints there. But one key update you and I should look forward to takes the cake as far as disclosing information is concerned:

shas3n - 21-AUG-2007For a government controlled body, BMRC is really industrious and we have seen them taking a lot welcome steps earlier. Now, like a real smart company, BMRC plans to encash its environment friendliness using 'Carbon Bonds' from UNFCCC. Here is a kind of FAQ on that topic. |
Proposed BMTC Buses rerouting around MG Road shas3n - 12-AUG-2007When a major infrastructure project is underway, it is usual to see that a lot of services being disrupted.
