Bangalore is a good example for Good & Bad road humps. Though we have regulations in IRC (Indian Road Congress - http://www.irc.org.in/) but the humps in the city are being laid incorrectly in several areas. |

I think its a challenge, a real one. How do you convey, via simple road signs, the so modern concept of looping road interchanges!? Try describing an interchange when giving out directions - is that a left, or a right that you take from Inner Ring Road to get on to airport road towards HAL? The road signs around such interchanges convey this confusion really well. Some samples for you: |

This is a followup to the road working group call, we (nithin, asj and myself) had a couple of weeks back. After that, I also talked to a contractor who has built roads (Pradeep). The consolidated "whats the story" is below, in the format of question/answers. Needs a lot more work and refining, but feel free to comment on the work so far. Also, if you want to call in and give your feedback, send me a private message. |

I am not doing a summary here of the IRC codes for road markings. I ordered a copy and got it yesterday and flipped through it. The norms / guidelines cover the basics well. Significantly, there is clear guideline on GIVE WAY - markings. |
