The greatest charm of the Bangalore city is the fact that it is the garden city of India. While cities like Delhi, Mumbay and Kolkata cannot survive a day without CNG, Bangalore still has gushes of fresh air to offer. The roads of Bangalore have a cool breezy feel due to the trees around the sidewalk. Unfortunately Bangalore is loosing this charm. |

Hi, There is a huge residential project development project going on near Kannamangala by Defence Welfare Association. What used to be a nice road there, has become so dirty and bumpy due to the trucks depositing plenty of soil on the public roads. Whole area in the surroundings also wears a mask of dust! |

Electricity distribution and Pruning of road side trees psaram42 - 23-APR-2010
During rainy season the road side trees are usually in the news. The whirlwinds are the culprits in up rooting of many trees. The pruning of the road side trees is another chore that the BBMP has to do due to the over head domestic electricity distribution system currently being followed in the city. |
Reporting encroachment by temple on road - how? geodesic - 22-APR-2010
If I wanted to report an encroachment on to a public road, can I do so on Spandana - BBMP's website? If yes, should I be selecting "Engineering" or "Legal" as the department? There is a temple near my locality that has encroached on the main road; they have put up a "temporary" shelter for some pooja/festival which is yet to be removed even after a month! Because of this shelter, only half the lane is left. So everyday there is a jam at that point because vehicles cannot pass. How does one report this? Also, how does one do it without being targeted or harassed by "religious" people? Prajagale, please advise. |
Street improvements - Problems aplenty Naveen - 14-APR-2010
Roads in most Indian cities are a complete mess, literally. When do we see them graduate to some sort of orderliness, if ever ? The reasons for this pathetic state of roads, heavy congestion & poor transport infrastructure are many. Most of us believe that the authorities alone are responsible & lack expertise. However, apart from this, there are many other reasons : 1) City officials are unable to acquire land uniformly throughout a street for maintaining width symmetrically because there are numerous establishments & private parties or individuals that contest such acquisition in courts - army land between Mekhri circle & Rajgopal rd & on ORR on the northwest (near Peenya) are examples, as is the traders agitation along CMH rd. 2) Where roads are of uniform width, 'No Parking' is difficult to enforce or indiscriminate parking is allowed due to the nature of activities on the road, or private vehicles park anyway & usually obstruct movement of traffic - examples are Sampige rd & Margosa rd in Malleswaram, 80ft & 100ft roads in Indiranagar & Koramangala that have numerous retail outlets. |

Jigani Bommasandra link road-Desperately seeking attention!!! Manideepa - 18-FEB-2010
For a city thats industrially growing by leaps and bounds, one of the blossoming hubs of development connected by the Jigani Bommasandra Link Road (that connects Hosur Road to Bommasandra/Jigani/Anekal/Bannerghatta Road) lies in a sad state of neglect. Several top industries, viz. Biocon, HCL, GSK, Sigma, etc. have set up their large units on this road. |
