Interchange hubs for inter-city travelers in Bangalore?

silkboard - 1-NOV-2010

How is Bangalore doing on Interchanges or transit centers? Not to be mixed with the burning need for local transit / bus change centers, where TTMCs have simply not filled the gap, and changing buses is a painfully inconvenient thing in general, the problem area is with long distance public transport. How do people arrive at the city, and then go to their final destination point?

That was the title of the Nobel Memorial Seminar convened by 'Volvo Buses', yesterday (26th Oct) at the Leela, Bangalore.

How green is the mile?

sourav894 - 22-OCT-2010

The greatest charm of the Bangalore city is the fact that it is the garden city of India. While cities like Delhi, Mumbay and Kolkata cannot survive a day without CNG, Bangalore still has gushes of fresh air to offer. The roads of Bangalore have a cool breezy feel due to the trees around the sidewalk. Unfortunately Bangalore is loosing this charm.

Guidelines for builders!

 Hi,

There is a huge residential project development project going on near Kannamangala by Defence Welfare Association. What used to be a nice road there, has become so dirty and bumpy due to the trucks depositing plenty of soil on the public roads. Whole area in the surroundings also wears a mask of dust!

Water water everywhere and not a drop to drink!

sourav894 - 16-OCT-2010

Why are we scared of drinking water? Everytime, when we travel, why are we afraid to drink water from railway station filters? Why do we so often come across shouts of “Don’t drink that water!” ringing in our ears?

The everyday assassination of Gandhi

sourav894 - 16-OCT-2010

Recently the country celebrated Gandhi jayanti. This day hardly meant anything to many of us. Most students and professionals enjoyed their day with friends or watching a recent film. But, don’t you think, it is high time we sit back and think his principles and ideologies and what this man stood for?

A dirty business in schools

sourav894 - 16-OCT-2010

It is preposterous to see the long queues outside schools in Bangalore. These fine men and women are here for their kids admission into pre-primary sections. This school will demand lakhs of donation, and these parents will readily pay it! Some schools even demand minimum qualification of parents for admitting their wards. On what basis are they authorized to do so?

New scam brewing at BBMP, their infra website, and a simple advice

silkboard - 7-OCT-2010

Recent reports in local dailies suggest that there may have been bogus or excess-spend projects to swindle money at BBMP. Apparently, some works were carried out without following all procedures, and good number of such projects involved road digging or similar work along the Metro corridor (where one would assume Metro itself would have taken up such work). Anyway, nothing new there.
