Most of the low speed (city) fatal accident reports have a common phrase, "came under the wheel". A victim is usually crushed under these heavy vehicles resulting in serious injuries or death. But I have not heard of this happening with a Volvo bus or cars. Why? Are they not heavy enough? |

If we really think about it, traffic management boils down to efficient 'space' management. How best do you manage the utilisation of a finite commodity like space on the streets? All measures taken or discussed to de-congest, improve, smoothen traffic by advocating lane discipline, platooning, sync signal lights, parking, foot paths, lesser private vehicles, efficient public transport, car pooling etc boils down to this. Freeways are Freeways and City Roads are City Roads, there is no confusion about that. By definition a Freeway is - FREE - of pedestrians / cyclists and T or cross junctions. Our planners have never either understood this or did not care or had ulterior motives. |
