I was reading the news paper this morning. As is common in the weekend, there was this regular headline which went like "Power Shutdown in Several Areas Today". The article went on to say that due to 66/11 kV "C" Station Maintenance Work, there will be no power in a large swathe of Bangalore in the general Shivaji Nagar area from 10 am to 6pm. |

In the current system if a person has to dig a road they have to get the permit from BBMP after paying the prescribed fees. The prescribe fees are high - they are in the range of 1200 to 1500 per meter. For 40 feet road, it will cost as much as 15000 to 18000. Not to mention the additional convenience charges that one might have to pay to get the permit sooner. |
Escoms need to perform first before seeking tariff hike murali772 - 10-NOV-2010
If Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) wants to hike the power tariff, you have the right to question its performance. As per law, the inefficiencies of the electricity supply companies (Escoms) cannot become a burden on consumers. |
About Public Complaint Management Systems Bheema.Upadhyaya - 6-MAY-2010
I just happened to create a single link for online complaint systems for Bangalore utilities. Just to make it at one place for me to start with. Even though it is not user friendly, it brings all complaint forms together. Request prajas to use if found suitable. I may put some more effort if someone wants improvements. With my trial complaints with BBMP I learned following: (I have indicated this in earlier posts somewhere, but I repeat) |
A sorry institution called BESCOM ravisush - 5-MAY-2010
Hey all, In bangalore there is a place in the name of seegehalli where we have a shell petrol bunk. In front of that there lies "JANAPRIYA SAI DARSHAN". The association cannot be blamed in these flats because they are worse than the Govt of India (arnt we folks tired of blaming them). This area falls under an AE named Yogish, I guess Yogish has got his position as what he is thanks to the "DRUNK LINESMEN". On the 27th of March 2010 3 drunk linesmen come at round 11'o clock (AM) and disconnect my line which is very much in the above said apartment. I confront them and in the best of words request them not to disconnect since I had no idea what the bill was since it had never reached me. Rs 520 is the bill I was informed which was paid on the spot. The drunk linesmen inspite of paying the amount disconnected the fuse. |
IPL Matches at Night - Who cares for ENERGY conservation? kbsyed61 - 18-APR-2010
![]() This photo's source is TravelPod page: Thanks to current IPL controversies, now many questions are being raised including ethical, moral and social aspects. In all of these, I am trying to ask myself a question, even though I am also a cricket lover as millions others. The question I am asking myself is should the sports be played in night which compels to use flood lights? Given the IPL context in which most of the matches are played at night, It is no secret that these matches need lighting arrangements consuming hundreds of kilowatts of power. This in turn has many issues that we all need to look into. First issue is a social question. Should the matches be played at Night? When the cities are struggling with power shortages, is it right for sports managements to conduct matches at night which make use of large amount of energy resources? |

“Overhead electrical cabling is a hazard to human life and property and poses an obstacle to road widening. The danger is even greater during the rainy and windy seasons. Also, a lot of power is stolen by miscreants,” - A Bangalorean is determined to convince the government to go in for underground electrical cabling in the city I think the KPTCL & Bescom need to take this up on priority. This is an investment worth making. I know the linemen will lose gimbla as it will become harder to enable people to steal electricity. More than road widening 90% of obstructions on sidewalks/footpaths are related to electrical poles and transformers. Let us take this up with our new corporators who will be at work soon. |
