Analyzing Traffic Police's spot fine system

silkboard - 5-MAY-2009

I am told that developed countries do not have this system of spot fines. We do - and I guess that low levels of automation would be one reason we have this in place - sub-inspector or above can issue challans and levy spot fines.

State gets its ‘act’ together, hopefully

murali772 - 15-MAR-2009

After an interminably long sitting on tabling of the Karnataka Police Act for more than a year, the state government has decided to implement the Act through an executive order to avoid a possible embarrassment when the monitoring committee set up by the Apex Court would come for a visit later this month.

Productive usage of traffic policeman resource

Shalini - 4-MAR-2009

I would suggest to use the traffic policeman in a productive way by reducing the task allotted to them for catching every common man for vehicle documents. There is lot of technology improved why shouldn't the technology flow to the traffic police department.

Huge rally - no jams. When was the last time THAT happened!

deepakar - 1-MAR-2009

We spend a lot of words pointing out what's not working. I thought I'll mention something that the authorities got right this time. There was a huge anti-terrorism rally on a workday bang in the centre of the city and the traffic was still flowing pretty freely. For what it's worth I wanted to hail the folks who planned and managed this event. Kudos to Mr. Praveen Sood and Mr. Shankar Bidari I guess!
