Why not extend Namma Metro to BIAL ?

bangalore-guy - 7-MAY-2008

I have been reading at various forums and news papers and it is now clear that the planning authorities goofed up by not thinking about rail connectivity to the new BIAL. Now various suggestions are being made and one that is louder than the rest is that a dedicated rail link be provided from MG Road to the BIAL. Which in my opinion is utterly stupid and expensive.

The state cabinet, which met here today, decided to invite brand new tenders for the proposed monorail project in Bangalore. Asian Infrastructure Consortium (AIC), a private company, is in the process of preparing the detailed project report (DPR) for the monorail. Initially, the mono rail will run on a trial basis (18 kilometres) connecting the commercial hub of the city - Majestic to Kanakapura Road on Bangalore's southern tip. Source: Business Standard

Mono off the track again

shas3n - 5-SEP-2007

Does not seem long while since we were happy to see some traction with Mono rail. Even bids were being evaluated for Mono. Before we could say 'cheers' the first blow came when BMRC said Metro is too much to handle. Now, the project seems to be totally off the track with the Government changing it mind on how they want the project to be tendered.

Mono too much to handle for BMRC

shas3n - 3-AUG-2007

We had recently heard about BMRC trying to finalise the bids for Mono project. But surprisingly BMRC realised that Mono will be too much to handle with its plate already being full with Metro. It has hence submitted a plea to Govt. asking the Mono to be handled by some other agency. Looks like the Gove will oblige.
