Meeting with Mr Tripathy (BMTC)

admin123 - 18-MAY-2008

A few of us are meeting Mr Upendra Tripathy (BMTC) this Thursday. Unfortunately, we couldn't get to organize this as a broader and open-to-all-who-are-interested type of meeting. But, we will:

  • Talk to him and explore ways of connecting our upcoming "working group" here with BMTC
  • Try to show him as much of the good suggestions that have come up here so far

Open letter to R K Mishra !

kbsyed61 - 16-MAY-2008

This is an open letter to Mr R K Mishra (Reg: Protest at HAL)

Mishraji, Greetings,

It gives me a great pleasure to write to you. It might be too late to congratulate you for winning the TOI's "Lead India" initiative. Now saw your post on protest for HAL airport.

What do we do with the Richmond road flyover!

blrsri - 16-MAY-2008

Surprisingly there are very few flyovers in blr which do not have a huge jam under them
every day! The best example is that of the in-famous cable stayed bridge in KR puram and
arguably the next worst is the Richmond road flyover.

This hardly caters to anyone and there are jams below the flyover both at end of double road
and richmond circle.

why is this? cos of one ways on residency road and richmod road..

Dedicated bus lanes - a presentation for BBMP

Naveen - 16-MAY-2008

I made a presentation yesterday to Mr.Subramanya (BBMP Commisioner) at his office about the single bus lane idea. He was quite interested and said he would discuss with his committee and revert. He also agreed very well that the solution was not to build or widen more roads or flyovers. He also mentioned some problems that are being faced with the underpasses construction on Bellary road - the actual costs were much higher than anticipated because numerous problems had cropped up - conduits for sewerage, water, telephone, electricity, etc that were marked incorrectly on admittedly very old drawings that now need to be re-aligned !

[Here is the presentation, prepared with a lot of help from folks and material here on Praja]

In defence of the traffic police!!

vmenon - 14-MAY-2008

In the "unlocking bangalore" debate I come from 2 or 3 contexts.

a) I believe there is at least 30% capacity on our roads which are wasted by non adherence and non implementation of the law( both traffic laws and a myriad of civic laws )

b) I believe that of the various enforcers/government bodies out there ,the traffic police is one of the better ones , but who are are always at the worst end of the stick, tremendously underresourced and unempowered.

BMTC e-purse to be introduced next week

shas3n - 13-SEP-2007

Yes, it is almost there. In about a week, BMTC will introduce e-purse which can be used to pay for your BMTC tickets instead of cash. The first phase of the roll out will be experimental and this scheme will soon be expanded after KEONICS finds BOOT partners to implement the system. Ella OK but I have some quirks about the way it is implemented.
