bangalorean - 4-JUL-2008Petrol prices are soaring above the roof. We are also facing a huge problem with refuelling Petrol during these crunch times. Improvement in the public tranport is not going to be soon, i would alteast expect couple of years for the public transport to pull themselves up and provide some decent public transport. We have a grt responsibility to save fuel. As estimated there are around 1 lakh two wheelers in bangalore. If each vehicle consumes 1 lt of petrol each day then it amounts to total of 1 lakh litres of petrol. i.e. 1 lakhs * 60 = 60 lakhs/per day. (+ pollution) |

I had the opportunity to drive down NH7 to the BIA last evening and again this morning. Some of the things that immediately struck me was that Yesterday, the taxis were driving at more reasonable speeds and why? At critical sections of the road there were these "interceptor" vehicles equipped with radar speed guns and were fining offenders on the spot. I think that this definitely puts the fear into the drivers and will behave? Good going Bangalore Police may you be empowered further :-) |

Meanwhile, NH7 turns a death trap s_yajaman - 25-JUN-2008
NH-7 is turning out to be a complete death trap. On the way back from the airport last night, we reached Chikajala only to find traffic stopped. Heard an ambulance, etc. Found out that we reached about 15 mins after a fatal accident - a hit and run. Apparently (and I don't know for sure) a City Cab had hit a pedestrian and sped off. The locals were furious and understandably. They had blockaded the traffic. They were taking all the Meru and City Cabs to one side and were asking the passengers to get off. They came to the window of each taxi that passed and said "Naale inda nidana (slow from tomorrow)". |

Vicotria road which was under the works since the last few months is ready since the start of this week..This road connects the HAL apt road to richmond road and this has among other establishments, ravindu toyota and army school. One thing after airport was shifted is that the richmond road near shoolay/vellara jn is pretty less crowded..but bus traffic trying to sqeeze thru the narrow passage to reach richmond circle clogs the other end of the road! |

Saw some folks on Sunday putting up posters and banners around Innter Ring Road spreading awareness about traffic rules. They were being well supported by the traffic cops. Inspiring indeed, and newspapers tell us that its a group of techies called PFC (People For a Cause). Good show guys! Snippet from DH June 15:
