Some of us at Praja are planning to go meet Metro officials this Friday, 20th/August. Those interested to join in may leave a note here. We will not be able to take more than 5 people along, so please respond soonest since we have to resort to 'first come first serve' basis & give priority to more senior praja members. |
Bangalore Mass Transit - Summary of Past Study Reports Naveen - 27-OCT-2008The first CTTP for Bangalore had been carried out in 1963-64 by the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI, New Delhi). This study, though termed “Comprehensive” had focused on the road system, & had proposed construction of 138 km of ring roads, 77.5 km arterial roads & various grade separators, pedestrian subways and truck terminals. |
Ravi_D - 27-MAY-2010
BMRC has uploaded an artists impression of the proposed MG Road Boulevard. Large 10MB file full of graphics. Proposal is for a two level boulevard, spread along a 400m corridor next to the metro pillars that ends at Anil Kumble Jn. Should be a nice place to go to if the reality turns out as good.... Couldn't help think why cramp so many different activities in just a half a km stretch. Personally I'd prefer a single theme to a place, and many such places along the Metro lines. Why only MG Road? Why not landscape and use area under the pillars along many such places in the city? |
srinidhi - 11-MAR-2010

Commuter Rail - Will it ever materialize ? Naveen - 13-FEB-2010
Most of us are aware that the CTTP-2007 report had recommended a Commuter /Sub-urban rail system for the city, totalling 204.0km (this includes city & suburban services upto Tumkur, Hosur & Ramanagaram). A few sub-urban trains are in operation & are being run by Southwestern railways (SWR), but the system is not of much help to urban commuters. |
Metro Soil Testing 2010 - Phase 3? Srivatsava - 27-JAN-2010
All, I have noticed metro soil testing at various locations in Bangalore this month. Mid-last year, there was one round of soil testing done and the DPR for Phase-2 was to be out in aug/Sep 2009. Seems like thats still pending. |

Metro - try get it right the first time! srinidhi - 13-JAN-2010
As we know there is an 'Indian' way of doing everything! We never seem to follow lanes or queues..even our RJ's for traffic updates use words like 'nuggisokke aagthillava'! (are you not able to squeeze throuhg?) |
Gammon and the Metro - is there a safety concern? sanjayv - 30-DEC-2009
After the recent bridge collapse in Rajasthan on the E-W corridor involving Gammon, am beginning to wonder about who would conduct a proper audit of the company's practices? Since Bangalore Metro has offloaded a portion of the work to Gammon, this is particularly worrying for us. There are three major accidents that have been reported in the national press. |
