Huge rally - no jams. When was the last time THAT happened!

deepakar - 1-MAR-2009

We spend a lot of words pointing out what's not working. I thought I'll mention something that the authorities got right this time. There was a huge anti-terrorism rally on a workday bang in the centre of the city and the traffic was still flowing pretty freely. For what it's worth I wanted to hail the folks who planned and managed this event. Kudos to Mr. Praveen Sood and Mr. Shankar Bidari I guess!

So said Dr. Subramanya sometime in Dec 2007.  It seems that pavements are optional in Bangalore.  BBMP can spend 100s of crores on tarring roads, acquiring land for useless road widening (check out the stretch just after Domlur leading to Command Hospital), building flyovers with signals on top of them, etc etc, but has little money to spend on building and maintaining pavements.

BBMP - More magic boxes coming!?

silkboard - 22-FEB-2009

View from the Palace cross roadWhat exactly would be "precast RCC box segments of size 6m x 4.5m x 1m". Magic box, isn't it? Saw some tenders from BBMP calling for work to prepare "vehicular underpass" using these precast RCC segments at Mysore Road Deviation Junction. See the BBMP Ad for yourself:
