movements from various struggles such as anti- SEZ, anti-mining, anti-

felt that this would be a good occasion for the like-minded people of
Bangalore to meet and discuss with at least some of them on the some
of the grave issues around all of us. It is also important to think
about how we react to many of these struggles around us.

We at People’s Solidarity Concerns therefore invite you to attend a

bikram satpathi - 27-MAR-2010

During run up to BBMP elections we saw some down to earth pictures of  condition of our pot holed roads in some parts of Bangalore. We have seen excellent roads (plastic green Roads ) in Bangalore which bt virtue of  Tech involvement does not allow potholes  see All major roads - Cubbon road -Trinity circle area, Tv Tower rd...Ring Road. It is called Modified Bitumen ( Poly mer added correct percentage to Bitumen at right temp). Why then aren't smaller rds in Bangalore given the same treatment ? Now that you will get new corporators pl ask them about pot holed roads in your area. Technology has been passed by Cen Rd Research Inst , Min Env Forests.. Bangalore has 1000 km ,TN about 1500km... such rds.

Contractors hold the key. Annual work order has to survive on pot holes appearing at regular intervals. Think you can tackle this. Get more gen from Print media on Plastic Roads in Bangalore.

Town Planning - Introduction

psaram42 - 24-MAR-2010

General:

The planet earth appears blue from outer space due to the huge amount of water covering the globe. The exposed land above this ocean water is only 30% the ocean water portion being the remaining 70%. India stands 7th nation after Russia and china in its extant of land which is about 32,263 Sq km. This land asset available to the earthlings, which is the fundamental asset, is limited in its extent. This asset belongs to the entire life system that exists at any point of time on this planet. It can only be borrowed for temporary convenience by any life that exists on the planet at any time period.

BTC - Is this the end ?

Naveen - 23-MAR-2010

" The Karnataka High Court on Monday dismissed Bangalore Turf Club’s plea for more time and directed it to vacate the premises by September 22. The BTC’s plea — that the grant of land by the Mysore Maharaja’s government in 1915 was absolute — failed to impress the Bench, which made it clear that BTC needs to relocate "

Court asks government to preserve race course area as open space, suggests creation of mini forest No direction to government to give alternative land to BTC ORDER, ORDER The petitioner club cannot seek alternative land as a matter of right for racing and allied activities — Karnataka HC "

The dry leaves disposal problem.

psaram42 - 22-MAR-2010

As the spring season comes every year there is the dry leaves season preceding it. The street sweepers have hectic work gathering the dry leaves by sweeping them into big mounds. It is really funny that the regular garbage collectors are no way responsible for the leaves final disposal.

India - Dirtiest of All !

Naveen - 18-MAR-2010

54% of India or 638 million people do not have access to toilets & defecate in the open !

This is over 55% of the total for all such people in the world - we certainly hold the dubious distinction of outranking all others by a huge margin :) - In second place is Indonesia, with a paltry 58 million.

The report also states that 18% of urban India indulge in this practice (Mumbai, Kolkata & Chennai might account for a large part of this). The percentage for rural India is as high as 69%.

Figures for some 'top' countries are as follows:

alternate usage of currency notes

hemaraj - 16-MAR-2010

Today the habba day has a very first page  in times of india, scene of mayawathi getting garlanded with 1000 rupee notes, amounting to 5 crores.

I read an article sometime back that RBI has mentioned that  a rule is being brought in,where currency cannot be used for alteranate purpose other than for transaction as money.

anybody using other than the specific  purpose will be severly punished as it is damaging the notes and cost of printing is very high, and has to  be maintained. this article was published when one of the ministers in Tamilnadu was garlanded.

will this stand good for all . or is it for commom man. or has the rule  been abolished.

BBMP election - candidate information

hemaraj - 14-MAR-2010

The election for the bbmp is around the corner, at this point of time giving ideas is late, but atleast the future elctions can take up these actions.

Election commision should also go into latest technology by promoting a website, saving paper, allowing every candidate some particular byte space to write about himself, this accessible to all citizens. We citizens have never heard of the candidate who contests and the busy professionals dont take time to find out about the candidate.

I suggest that all the candidates contesting,

1)  mention the ward he is contesting, born and eduated place and institution. with his family details and  his motto.

 2) the party he is representing

 3) Brief history when he enterd the politics, year to year which party he was in, his position from which party he held, reason for leaving the party to join the next party,

 4) disclosure of his assets, what is his business, what is his income, what are the servces he has achieved during his tenure.

5) what are his administration skills,
