After Mysore City corporation announced the water supply PPP with JUSCO (Tata arm that manages water supply in Jamshedpur), there have been concerns that water supply is being handed over to private players, and the rates may go up.

Why are our cities suffering?

My take on why local level governance in cities like Bangalore and Mumbai are suffering while thriving in cities like New Delhi and to a lesser extent, Chennai.

Any good city needs local governance. This means having a strong mayor council in place and using revenues generated by the city to a substantial extent for the city's needs.

So what we had suspected all along is true.  Namma Metro is delayed by one year.   Reach One itself is badly delayed.

Wodeyar has sold prime land in Palace Grounds to a city-based developer. Many high profile realtors were interested in the deal. But in the end leading developer Dayanand Pai struck the deal. It is disputed land but already been sold for Rs6,000 crore.

ssheragu I came across a News Item that our BSY government is planing to shift some Tipu monuments near Srirangapatna that are in the way of Broad Gauge track While the laying of Broad Gauge track is most welcome, it should ot be forgotten that Hyder Ali & Tipu are some of our earliest freedom fighters.
