Karnataka State Highway Improvement Project

On 29/Nov ADB approved a $315 millon loan for Karnataka State Highway Improvement Project (KSHIP II). Amounts to 68% of estimated total ($463 million). 

Main goals: Improve over 600km of roads in the state. Due for completion by Dec 2014.

 BMTC buses take the main roads whereas private transport takes the short cut routes wherever possible. This in comparison will increase the travel time of BMTC buses as against private transport making  private transport more attractive.

Your access to information will get a tad easier with the state planning to bring in a law for proper maintenance of all public records. Based on a recommendation by the Karnataka Information Commission (KIC), the state will rope in Karnataka Public Records Act to make public information more accessible to the 'aam aadmi'.

Independent MLA and Sports and Textile Minister Goolihatti Shekhar threatened to commit suicide if dropped from the Cabinet. Sagar MLA Belur Gopalakrishna, who claims to have the support of over 20 MLAs, threatened that they will resign en masse if he is not made minister.
