Namma Metro UG-1 getting delayed??

vinpraja - 7-JAN-2011

Is Namma Metro UG-1 between Swastik to K.R.Road getting delayed? I tend to feel so as BMRCL is yet to award contract (in bmrc.co.in no info is given). Do note Ug-1 is crucial to Reach 4 as reach 4 lacks depot as well as full completion of Phase-1....

Eager to know about  when UG-1 tender is getting awarded and work starting on it...

I am delighted to receive your response.
I do understand some of the concerns you have raised , these can be reduced/fixed using various options.

1.Some company like Infosys/ Satyam would like to maximum put up their hoardings in the stations which would anyways be the case even if we do not lease out the station to them.

Just out of curiosity, was looking at home page of Chennai Metro Rail corporation (CMRL) to find the list of awarded tenders. Wanted to see if it is the same set of companies (as in Bangalore) carrying out works there, or if there are any new & different names.

Metro at Bangalore is the right step forward towards making this city truly international. This will not only reduce congestion on our overloaded road transport but will also be environment friendly. The need to cut trees for road widening or using own vehicle for commuting will be nullified to a great extent. Travel by Metro will be convenient, safe and affordable for all.
