Mr R.K. Mishra is actively working on solving the issues related to Whitefield and Mahadevepura region. Accordingly a task force has been setup with the help of the local MLA Mr Arvind Limbavali (Hon. Minister for Higher education). Whitefield main road - lets get help from local MLA Rithesh - 5-SEP-2008
Some Praja members are planning to meet Mr Aravind Limbavali (Hon. minister for Higher Education and MLA from Mahadevapura) to discuss the road and traffic issues in and around Whitefield area. Of specific interest is the area between Marathalli-Varthur road and Whitefield Main road. We are trying to reach Mr Limbavali's office to get an appointment. Kengeri to Whitefield Shuttle Train Vasanth - 8-JUL-2008
I was just seeing the frequency of trains from Mysore towards Bangalore as well as towards Whitefield from Bangalore station during morning hours. There seems to be very little traffic of trains. First train from Mysore towards Bangalore reaches Kengeri at 9:00 AM. Upto 9 AM track is completely free from Kengeri to Bangalore. |

Local shuttles and BMTC - Example Whitefield silkboard - 26-JUN-2008
Let me try a detailed example of how BMTC can extend the reach of its services, without adding tons of buses to its fleet. It involves investing in identified trunk routes, and then in planning local shuttles. Lets dig a bit deep into Whitefield. [flickr-photo:id=2612712866,size=m][flickr-photo:id=2612678852,size=m] Say we identify the trunk routes between Whitefield and rest of Bangalore as Southbound (towards Koramangala E-City, Westbound (towards CBD via Airport road), and Northbound (towards Banaswadi, Hennur). Call these trunk routes, and put a bus every 10-15 minutes on each. Here are the three routes (indicative, not exact):

BMTC's airport service - experience silkboard - 28-MAY-2008
[Since's Goerge's experience got lost in talks of PPP, privatization etc, I am posting this in a new thread] Got to use BMTC's Whitefield to BIA service yesterday. Went to Hope Farm junction in an auto, and noticed that there was a special board marking the BIAL bus stop. I was there at 1:35 pm, and as per the listed times, a non-A/C service should have shown up in a few minutes. Even though a non-A/C bus was parked about half a km back in Whitefield, nothing showed up. Waiting for the bus wasn't fun - strong sun, no shelter, and no paved surface to rest my luggage. Whitefield suburb - upcoming road work silkboard - 14-AUG-2007
Spotted this tender recently on BBMP website. Have a look, a lot of roadwork coming up in Mahadevapura, Marathahalli and Whitefield sub-divisions - about 6 crore worth of work for each. How about we track this work? Basically, write to BBMP and ask them to publish the deadlines, actual money spent, what standards will be used to determine completion of work etc? Anyone interested? 3-4 of us can try do this together as an experiement to see how much effort it takes for citizens to really be in the know. |
