In rediscovering the original purpose of many of these man-made lakes of bangalore - as a source of potable water - bwssb might have hit upon a truely sustainable 'novel' idea to save our lakes.

I was on my daily dinner routine. Happened to see this on-duty police person walking out of his official patrol van called ‘Hoysala'. He walked up to the cashier of this local restaurant, grabbed some money, and was matter-of-factly walking back. Not that this was the first time I saw such a thing - but, I don't know what became of me (perhaps Bollywood effect?).

Panel will chisel out city’s growth strategy

Noted space scientist and Rajya Sabha member K Kasturirangan will head the expert committee constituted by the Karnataka government to suggest strategies to ensure planned growth of the city under Greater Bangalore. The committee will work on a new comprehensive law that will deal with the development and regulation of the Bangalore Metropolitan Region (BMR) that has been witnessing rapid economic and demographic growth.

BMTC's Point-To-Point Service From January

The BMTC is planning to introduce a new flat fare, point-to-point non stop service in January 2008. The service will offer directional connectivity and will run at a frequency of 20 minutes from different parts of the city. BMTC plans to introduce 500 new suvarna buses in January and will set aside 20% (100 buses) for this point-to-point service.

Gali Anjaneya Project Delayed

The flyover project near the Gali Anjaneyaswamy temple at Mysore road, which is aimed at decongesting traffic on the road and surroundings, will be completed only by June next year.

Construction for the project began in October 2006 with a 15-month deadline stipulated but the project is now way behind meeting it.

Bangalore Metro Phase 1 Extensions

The TOI is reporting that BMRC has decided to add another 8 kms to the existing 33 kms of phase 1 of Bangalore Metro.

The ongoing tussle between the State Government and Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE), promoters of the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project, has taken a new turn with the Government floating global tenders to take over the controversial project under the ‘Swiss challenge’.
