Bus Breakdowns Plaguing BMTC

sanjayv - 26-OCT-2011

My 25 km one way daily commute for the past 10 months has meant covering a swathe of Bangalore's suburuban areas.  A common observation during this time has been seeing 2-3 BMTC buses broken down every day.  This includes buses across the spectrum.  Ordinary buses ranging from old to the relatively new JNNURM ones, Janti Vahanas (trailer buses), Volvos, Marco Polos etc.

Feeder Bus Service - Malleswaram Example

rs - 20-OCT-2011

This Feeder Bus service is a very good idea. I hope it is successful. But how about suggesting to BMTC to create a local Feeder bus service in several areas. For example. In Mall-eswaram, there will soon be two huge Malls at both ends - Mantri and Brigade. They could provide a service which goes as follows.

BMTC Buses - volvo vs marcopolo

rashmi - 17-OCT-2011

Hi, I catch 201 bus regularly. There are three buses available, one is 201R (normal bmtc bus)  with fare around Rs.12, other one 201R(volvo) with fare Rs.30. I was told that since volvo has A.C. facility and other better facilities, it costs almost double. I dont need an AC bus for a short journey.

Customer facing staff of BMTC

Bheema.Upadhyaya - 6-SEP-2011

Observation :Now I am using BMTC services almost daily (Mostly route 378) and getting a feel of the BMTC customer facing staff and their attitudes and langauges. I observed at least 25% conductors use rude language by default. What I mean by default is usage of poor language without any provocation by commuter's behavior or age or gender.

Few ideas which were discussed on Saturday meeting were :

A project to implement bus route maps for BMTC in the form of glowing (for night) signages that are clear, visible, and depicting 'where you are' plus the nearby bus routes from the stop to main stops in bangalore. The purpose it to help bus commuters locate themselves and commute with comfort without worrying about how to reach their destination.

Choked connectivity to Whitefield - solutions?

silkboard - 14-JUL-2011

If you look back, or go ask city agencies, they would say that a lot has been done to improve connectivity to Whitefield. A six-lane railway overbridge at Marathahalli, 2006. A prominent Big-10 service (G-1), 2010. A once-every-5-minutes air conditioned bus service (335E), 2009. Road improvements (Varthur Road, Mahadevapura main road), since 2003.

SWR & BMTC to blame for poor response for Devanahalli service

Sanjeev - 9-JUL-2011

On the one hand the city whines that it doesn’t have a “lifeline” like Mumbai’s suburban trains. It clamours for Metro and other high-speed rail networks. On the other, South Western Railway (SWR) is planning to withdraw the train service from Yeshwanthpur to Devanahalli via Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) just a year after it was introduced.
